Description
The Staff Nurse License Pending-Exam exemplifies the attributes of an NM nurse, reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
The Staff Nurse License Pending-Exam position adheres to the State of Illinois Nurse Practice Act ( and is used for graduate nurses who have passed the NCLEX exam but have not received their Illinois license and/or RNs licensed in another state pending completion of the Illinois licensure process. The RNLP may function under direct supervision in the capacity of a staff nurse. Unsupervised practice before receipt of license may result in denial of licensure.
While supervised, the Staff Nurse, Registered Professional Nurse, License Pending (RNLP) is responsible for the provision and coordination of clinically competent care for an assigned group of patients that includes assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. As a member of the clinical care and unit team, the RNLP participates in decision-making, teaching, leadership functions, research and quality improvement activities that enhance patient care outcomes and unit operations. The RNLP will remain as an orientee until license is received by the State of Illinois.
Responsibilities:
Assessment:
Collects and Analyzes Patient Data.
Data collection involves the patient, and includes the family and significant other as appropriate.
The priority of data collection activities is determined by the patient's immediate condition or need.
Pertinent data are collected using appropriate assessment techniques and instruments.
The data collection process is systemic and ongoing.
Planning:
Develops a Plan of Care that Prioritizes Care Using an Interdisciplinary Approach.
Individualized the plan to the patient (e.g., age-specific, culturally sensitive, etc.) and the patient's condition.
Develops the plan with the patient, family and significant other as appropriate and provides education utilizing suitable instructional materials and methods.
The plan reflects current nursing practice and provides for continuity of care.
Documents the plan.
Implementation:
The Nurse Implements the Interventions Identified in the Plan of Care.
Interventions are consistent with the established plan of care.
Interventions are implemented in a safe, timely and appropriate plan of care.
Documents the interventions.
Evaluation:
The Nurse Evaluates the Patient's Progress toward Attainment of Goals.
Evaluation is systemic, ongoing and criterion-based.
The patient, family, significant other and interdisciplinary team members are involved in the evaluation process as appropriate.
Ongoing assessment data are used to revise outcomes and the plan of care as appropriate.
The effectiveness of interventions is evaluated in relation to outcomes.
