Duties and Responsibilities 
 The Wainwright lab in the department of Cancer Biology at Loyola University Chicago Health Sciences Campus invites applicants for a full-time Research Specialist II position working on understanding breast cancer pathology and developing new therapies. The Research Specialist will assist in experimental procedures involving glioblastoma, cancer immunology and immunotherapy, aging and cancer, and mechanisms of resistance to therapy for cancer. They will also oversee the day-to-day aspects of the lab including supply/equipment ordering and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

- Carries out experiments as instructed by Principle Investigator (PI).
- Assists with experimental procedures involving tissue or cell cultures and mouse models of breast cancer, preparing reagents and solutions, and making direct experimental measurements.
- Performs basic lab techniques required to complete the project. - Gathers, organizes, and records data. Performs analysis of results. - Contributes to the scientific development and writing of manuscripts and grants.
- Assists in writing scientific manuscripts.
- Ensures lab environment complies with safety regulations and may assume partial responsibility for safety in the lab.
- Incorporates and develops new protocols and methodologies.
- May assist in ordering lab supplies when required. Maintains orderly records of purchases.
- Maintains a safe and orderly lab environment. Ensures compliance with safety regulations.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience 
 Required: Bachelor's Degree 
Preferred: Master's Degree 
Required: 5+ years of previous job-related experience, completion of relevant coursework is considered equivalent experience.
Qualifications 
 Bachelor's degree in: Molecular Biology, Biology, Biochemistry or Chemistry Microbiology, Virology, Immunology is preferred.
Minimum Experience: 3-5 years of previous job-related experience in an academic or industry setting.

- Practical experience with culturing human-derived tissues, particularly breast cancer cell lines is preferred.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and established procedures.
