Job Summary:
The Payroll Tax Analyst Sr is responsible for the multi-state payroll tax processing which includes, but is not limited to, federal, state, and local payroll tax compliance, maintaining accurate records on employee tax data, preparing payroll tax returns, and other payroll tax related functions. Within the tax team, this individual takes the lead on tax processing for foreign national students, employees, and visitors, including managing and maintaining the various systems used for processing non-resident taxes.
Responsibilities:
Assures proper tax treatment of foreign nationals, including monitoring tax status, applying tax treaties, validating correct withholding, and addressing errors promptly.
Administers the Foreign National Information System and Tax Navigator, systems used for managing foreign national tax data.
Researches and resolves payroll tax inquiries and related issues for U.S. residents and non-residents.
Reviews and analyzes weekly reports and queries to identify and correct tax problems prior to every payroll run.
Provides one-on-one assistance to foreign nationals and department administrators regarding taxation rules and documentation requirements.
Participates in the processing of W-2 and 1042-S forms.
Responds to and resolves employee inquiries involving payroll tax issues.
Assists with processing account reconciliation, journal entries, funding reconciliation, and other payroll tax related tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Training in payroll processing and tax law, or the equivalent experience and education from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
Three to five years of experience managing payroll taxes for U.S. residents and foreign nationals.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
Target hiring range for this position will be between $67,000-$72,500 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
