Position Summary, Requirements, and Qualifications


Overview
Northern Illinois University (NIU) is accepting applications for the position of Ticket Sales Specialist for the NIU Convocation Center. This is a full-time, 12-month position with benefits.
Position Summary
Employee performs a variety of duties related to the sale of tickets, fulfillment of orders, box office operations and the allocation of seats for various events.

This position reports to the Assistant Athletic Director of Ticketing Operations and performs their duties in their absence or as directed. This position will work closely with all Convocation Center, Intercollegiate Athletics departments, and campus wide staff to provide excellent guest service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ticket Orders
Receives and verifies ticket orders for various events; fills ticket orders to include but not limited to preparing mailers, email delivery, and/or walk-up windows.
Provides general information concerning various ticket programs, such as refunds or lost or stolen tickets, and any incentive packages.
Assists in allocating seats to ticket holders and renewing season tickets annually.


Customer Service
Maintain a high level of customer service by responding to customer requests, concerns, and complaints.
Solve customer's problems and resolve disputes in an expedient, customer-friendly manner, using independent judgment and discretion.

Promotional Event Codes
Assists Ticket Sales Supervisor in building and maintaining events, manifests, promotional codes, and other ticket operational needs through the Paciolan SBclient back-office system.

Scheduling
Schedules staff and evaluates staffing needs, including implementing new or revised ticket office procedures and training and supervising part-time staff.

Cash sales & Record Keeping
Maintain records of cash sales and prepares related reports/deposits.
Enters ticket sales data into appropriate tracking and records system.
Assists with maintaining records of eligible staff complimentary tickets.

Cash Handling
Perform miscellaneous, related duties in accordance with departmental needs as necessary.
Cash handling responsibilities of $5,000 - $10,000 annually.

Ticketing Verification
Verify funds from ticketing system and associated costs of the current ticketing system.
Minimum Required Qualifications (Civil Service)
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) years (24 months) of ticket office or customer service experience comparable to the lower level of the series (Ticket Sales Assistant), which included cash handling, accepting or processing electronic payments including requirements to reconcile sales, and purchases.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) (Civil Service)
Class Specific KSAs:
Thorough knowledge of guidelines concerning ticket programs.
Knowledge of business procedures relating to cash handling, reconciliation, and deposits.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate staff.
Good customer service skills.
Good computer skills.
Ability to operate standard office equipment.
Ability to maintain records and prepare related reports.
Ability to reconcile reports.
Ability to work under pressure.
Supervisory ability.

Position Specific KSAs:
Strong skill with customer service to ensure a positive ticket purchasing experience for the general public, students, donors, and alumni.
Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required and work irregular hours based on event schedule.

Bachelors Degree in Business, Marketing, Sales Management or similar.
