Genetic Counselor, Maternal Fetal Medicine

Position Highlights:

Position: Genetic Counselor

Location: Evanston, IL

Full Time/Part Time: Full Time

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

What you will do:

Communicate and work collaboratively with the team MFM Physicians, MFM Sonographers, Nurses, and Genetic Counselor Colleagues

Provide consultation services to pregnant and preconception patients for a wide variety of genetic indications and demonstrate competence in genetic counseling by assessing genetic risks in pregnancy, and provide genetic counseling services for prenatal and preconception indications

Provide patient education, offer and coordinate genetic testing, provide patient support and share pertinent information with the physicians and ultrasound staff to ensure comprehensive patient care

Communicate between the patient/family, referring physicians, and appropriate staff

Provide outreach and presentations to referring physicians and to the community on related topics as assigned

What you will need:

Education: Master's degree from an American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) accredited genetic counseling training program required

Certification: Certification by the American Board of Medical Genetics or the American Board of Genetic Counseling required. Illinois State Licensure or temporary Illinois State Licensure required

Experience:

Experience as Genetic Counselor preferred

Prenatal background and experience required

Experience with teaching and/or research preferred
