Travel required for Epic training to Epic HQ in Verona, WI. Other travel may be required within region position is located in.
Remote Work option - This person will work their first 90 days in the office. If there is completion of successful 90 day evaluation, this person will have the opportunity to work 8 days per month in the office and the rest from home.
Salary range for this position is $133,307-$156,852; Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.
POSITION SUMMARY: The pharmacy informatics specialist oversees and facilitates use of current and future clinical information systems to drive medication management transformation across the enterprise, promote patient safety, support workflow, and optimize efficiency. Leads information technology deployment, optimization and support efforts based on the organization's strategic initiatives and key results. The pharmacy informatics specialist works through all phases of system development to effectively meet pharmacy and medication management best practice standards and ensure that information systems are consistent with professional standards and evidenced-based practice. Works in partnership with Information Technology leadership and staff to determine clinical functions that are suitable for computer applications, translate clinician requirements into specifications for clinical information systems, identify and prioritize system enhancements, and designs medication work flow in clinical areas. Ensures that information systems are consistent with professional, legal, and regulatory standards and adheres to best practice pharmacy informatics principles. Serves as a key liaison to the clinical user community by providing direction and education on clinical information technology initiatives.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITY:

1. Serves as a key liaison between clinical users and information technology for OSF Healthcare System and its aligned partners.

2. Responsible for facilitating the process to design and optimize clinical information solutions including pharmacy applications to enable the delivery of safe, effective and high quality patient care. Supports the build and maintenance of clinical pharmacy informatics content in the electronic health record to assure safe and appropriate use of medications.

3. Evaluates the potential impact and value of new systems, technologies and enhancements of existing systems. Identifies and recommends solutions that ensure effective and efficient operations.

4. Functions as a pharmacy subject matter expert and applies knowledge and skills of clinical practice to ensure that information systems deployed are consistent with professional standards of practice and applicable laws and regulations.

5. Works collaboratively with IT leadership and staff to translate clinician requirements into specifications for new clinical systems and to evaluate and implement system enhancements or medication related work flow redesign.

6. Helps to foster a culture of evidence based practice through the application of information technology to support effective clinical decision making.

7. In partnership with physician, nursing, and pharmacy experts, coordinates the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical documentation and clinical decision support tools to optimize medication management.

8. Provides thought leadership and facilitates the integration of pharmacy practice and information technology to manage and communicate data, information, and knowledge in clinical practice.

9. Responsible for oversight of pharmacy process redesign related to pharmacy clinical systems. Integrates effective use of technology with sound operational and financial practices to improve medication management processes and patient safety.

10. Conducts current and future state analyses with clinical stakeholders; analyzes complex pharmacy operations processes for applicability and appropriateness of technology solutions, and facilitates optimal decision making regarding clinical system use.

11. Promotes standardization and implementation of pharmacy and medication management best practice initiatives identified by OSF HealthCare.

12. Responsible for troubleshooting, investigation, analysis, documentation, and ongoing support of pharmacy clinical systems and other medication management initiatives. Maintains knowledge of trends and advances in the field of pharmacy and healthcare informatics.
Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
Licensing: Registered Pharmacist License (or eligibility for licensure) to practice pharmacy in the state of Illinois
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience with using information technology in healthcare.
