In this role, this position would be responsible for the monthly close process including entering monthly journal entries, accounts payable & receivable processes, and accounts reconciliation. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced work environment, demonstrates a high degree of motivation, an ability to work with diverse stakeholders and possesses a strong work ethic. This position would report directly to the Accounting Manager.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparation of monthly journal entries under IFRS accounting standards and entry into the General Ledger system
  • Assisting with the month end close process, including preparing reports and communication among stakeholders for month end costs
  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly reports to distribute to other internal departments
  • Input daily Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable activity along with preparing weekly payments
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations, including analyzing balances and ensuring accounting treatment is in accordance with IFRS guidance
  • Cooperatively work with the accounting team and other teams within the organization
  • Utilize problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills to understand the business and accounting process at the company
  • Assist with ad hoc reports and projects, as requested
  • Performs other duties as they might be assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Candidate should be pursuing a Bachelors degree in Accounting
  • Minimum GPA of a 3.0

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Available to work full-time during summer and part-time during the school year
  • Basic user of Excel; Intermediate user preferred
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, be a self-starter
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Critical thinking/problem solving skills
  • Cooperative and effective team member, ability to interact with all levels of EVRAZ North America employees
  • Highly adaptable with a willingness to learn and actively participate
