The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics, Section of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition is seeking full-time faculty members at any rank. The appointees will be Clinician-Scientists/Pediatric Gastroenterologists. Appointees are expected to focus on building data collection infrastructures to study gastrointestinal diseases, devising novel approaches to diagnosis and prognosis, conducting clinical trials, and/or characterization of the effectiveness therapies for diseases. We especially welcome applicants with histories of funded research. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

Appointees will contribute to patient care, medical education, and scholarship of the Section of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition and join a vibrant and distinguished community of faculty colleagues and learners in UChicago Medicine, the Biological Sciences Division, the Pritzker School of Medicine, and the University of Chicago and its affiliates. A tradition of excellence in patient care, basic, clinical, and translational sciences, combined with the strengths of one of the world's top academic institutions, provides the foundation for a career as an academic physician. The University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital is a busy urban teaching hospital with a diverse patient population and is located on the same campus as the medical school and the University.

Clinical responsibilities will be assigned in the diagnostics, management, and therapeutic treatments in the outpatient settings at the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital and other practice plan sites, with a particular focus on pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients with gastrointestinal diseases. In addition, the appointees' duties will include clinical, scholarly, and training activities throughout the Chicagoland Children's Health Alliance. The Chicagoland Children's Health Alliance is a partnership between Comer Children's Hospital, Advocate Children's Hospital Heart Institute, and NorthShore University Health System Pediatrics. The University has a robust Celiac Disease Center, of which the appointees will be members which brings together a multitude of gastroenterologists and scientists in a cohesive campus-wide program.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be Board certified or Board eligible in Pediatrics with Special Qualification in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition, and 4) have completed an ACGME approved fellowship.
