Job Location: Robinson, IL


The role of Sanitation Manager is responsible to oversee Sanitation, Pest Management and Hygienic Design programs, processes and employees within the facility. This position is responsible for maintaining functions within the facility to meet Food Safety Audits and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Compliance as required by company policies and all pertinent regulatory agencies.

Summary:

The Hershey Company Robinson plant is a non-union plant producing products such as PayDay, Heath, Skor, Milk Duds, Whoppers, & Reese's Pieces, in a high-speed complex environment.


Responsibilities:

Provide direction supporting a 24/7 manufacturing operation maintaining sanitation requirements.
Develop and execute training programs related to quality, sanitation and regulatory opportunities.
Lead preventative programs, process optimization efforts, problem-solving and troubleshooting efforts to resolve sanitation incidents.
Conduct facility audits as needed to ensure and verify regulatory, customer and internal compliance.
Develop and maintain Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS), and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in support of the company's PEP program.
Assure conformance to policies and procedures of corporate and Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and Safety Quality Food (SQF) standards.
Lead regulatory compliance efforts including tracking, testing and reporting, as required.
Initiate routine monitoring to ensure overall plant compliance with the company's PEP program and applicable Federal, State and local regulations.
Ensure Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) process for sanitation, pest management, and hygienic design improvement plans are followed.
Serve as the liaison between the facility and 3rd party chemical and pest management service providers.
Support the prevention of defective product, consumer complaints, and sanitary design issues through problem-solving in collaboration with operations and quality teams.
Support root cause analysis and corrective actions with facility Environmental Microbiological Monitoring Program (EMMP).
Support cleaning verification and validation programs to demonstrate effectiveness of the sanitation program.
Support allergen cleaning and control measures within the facility.
Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Excellent leadership skills and ability to influence all levels of the organization
Strong communication and presentation skills
Knowledge of federal and state food industry regulations
Strong knowledge of sanitation and pest control practices
Effective organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
Ability to demonstrate analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills in a high-speed manufacturing system
Budget creation and application of cost control skills
Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
Strong computer skills - Microsoft Office, document management skills with attention to detail
Ability to create technical written procedures
Ability to balance multiple tasks and priorities
Working knowledge of regulatory and quality system and sanitation requirements: Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), Safety Quality Food (SQF), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Environmental Microbiological Monitoring Program (EMMP), Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS), Integrated Pest Management (IPM), CIP/COP, etc.
Requirements:
B.S. in Food Science, Microbiology or other relevant field preferred
A minimum of 5-7 years of successful performance in Food Plant Sanitation and/or Food Quality.
Knowledge of FDA and EPA regulations
Proficiency with MS Office Suite required
Experience with SAP preferred
