Position Description:
Expedite and oversee administrative process of clients' insured claims as assigned within region, including but not limited to general liability, builders' risk, professional liability, pollution, and auto liability claims.
Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities:
* As directed by Claims Manager, report claims in timely manner to applicable insurance carriers, and gather pertinent documentation.
* Facilitate process for insured claims as assigned within region and as assigned by Claims Manager, until claim is settled and closed.
* As directed by Claims Manager, coordinate with Operations, Safety, and/or Legal teams to ensure initial investigation is conducted and documented via written report; coordinate third-party incident investigator, as necessary.
* Participate in crisis response team activities within assigned region and assigned clients.
* Ensure claims carriers initiate claims process and assign Claims Specialist in timely fashion.
* Create, maintain, and collect files for claims records and documentation, and update Claims Management System.
* Understand and grasp differences of claim types.
* Facilitate flow of documentation and/or claim submission from client to carrier, per standard operating procedures for each claim type.
* Ensure standard operating procedures are followed by insurance carrier to issue prompt payments to relevant party/parties.
* Analyze loss data for claim settlement and reserves; make recommendations to Claims Manager.
* Prepare periodic claim reports (e.g., Loss or Benchmark) as directed using data management systems.
* Oversee settlement of claims up to permitted settlement authority, escalate to Claims Manager as needed.
* Participate in litigation oversight, strategy, and direction with clients' leadership and Legal department for assigned claims, as needed.
* Understand legal strategy and documents produced for litigation and mediation statements for assigned claims.
* Attend trials, mediations, and arbitrations for assigned claims, as required.
* Participate in and advise on clients' safety, environmental, operations, and/or legal meetings.
* May manage other Claims Analysts and Claims Coordinators. Deliver timely performance feedback to Claims team and execute and/or contribute to performance appraisals during annual performance cycle.
* Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree from accredited program in Business, Insurance, Risk Management, or related degree, and minimum of 4 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
* Construction industry or related risk management experience,highly preferred
* Knowledge of claims processes (e.g., general liability, builders' risk, professional liability, pollution, and auto liability)
* Knowledge ofclient contracts, insurance policies, claimsdocuments, and related practices
* Familiar with and able to research State and local jurisdiction insurance and claims regulations
* OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Act) knowledge and experience desired
* OSHA 30-hour certification, a plus
* Process and critical thinking skills with sound judgement decision-making
* Analytical and adept at processing and breaking down data into actionable information
* Self-starter with project management skills and capable of managing concurrent complex projects and tasks successfully to completion
* Interpersonalskills with ability to work acrossorganizational levels, both internal and external
* Professionalwritten and verbal communication, and effective presentationskills
* Proficient computer skills and Microsoft suite of applications
* Limited travel: travel modes include air, train, vehicle
