Position Summary
Reporting to the Bursar, the position's primary responsibilities are: 1) To work in conjunction with the Bursar all activities associated with student receivables; 2) To manage the student health insurance and student disability insurance programs. 3) To assist with processes for disbursement to and refunds from student accounts; 4) To ensure the accuracy and integrity of student financial data; 4) To provide dynamic and creative leadership to support the University Bursar, including the development and continual improvement of systems and processes designed to meet university expectations in service of the student.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
General Duties:
Assists the University Bursar with third-party invoicing related to the collection processes.
Responsible for generating, reviewing and annually filing federal 1098 T Tuition Statements with the IRS.
Under the supervision of the University Bursar, assists with the processing of disbursements and refunds in accordance with state/federal regulations and institutional policies.
Assists with coordinating reconciliations for all billing processes.
Researches, analyzes and troubleshoots processes and technical problems encountered by the Bursar's Office with the Office of Technology to resolve issues in the Student Financial System.
Safeguards, processes, and deposits student tuition payments and other monies as necessary.
Maintains procedures and processes related to the student payment plan.
Works in conjunction with the Bursar to maintain procedures and internal controls for the depositing of payments, monitoring of receivables, and optimization of collections.
Oversees the maintenance of student accounting records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and university policies
Receives and responds to questions and concerns related to the department.
Student Health Insurance:
Under the supervision of the University Bursar, the Assistant Bursar manages the student health insurance and student disability insurance programs.
Coordinates new plan implementation and data transfers.
Provides guidance and responds to specific questions regarding eligibility and benefit rules and requirements.
Liaises with insurance vendors to update and maintain online enrollment and waiver systems.
Participates in the development of marketing materials for the student health insurance plan.
Participates in new student orientation and other campus events to promote student health insurance.
Serves as a confident and helpful resource for students with questions and concerns about student health insurance
Administrative Duties
Assists the Bursar with annual audit, requested, responding to inquiries, and implements recommendations.
Manages content and maintenance of Bursar's Office website.
Creates and maintains strong relationships with key offices including accounting, admissions, financial aid, registrar, and with key external constituents.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Conditions of Employment
Must achieve satisfactory results from a background check.

Required Education & Experience
A minimum of 4 years experience in a financial aid, Student accounts, Bursar or banking environment.
At least 4 years working in a customer service focused environment
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
