Who we are looking for:
We are currently looking for a Transportation Manager to be based out of Harvey, Illinois. Reporting to the Director; RSC Transportation, this individual will be responsible for carrier performance, transportation systems implementation and enhancements, and providing moderately complex analysis of large data, leveraging business intelligence tools, across all Atkore's Regional Service Centers (RSCs).
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years' experience working in a similar supply chain, logistics, or transportation role. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.
What you'll do:
Creates and maintains development plans in accordance with business objectives. Holds personal accountability delivering reporting to business leaders complete, without error, and on time to expectations.
Leverage data, trends, and insights from internal and external sources to calculate performance and make recommendations for carrier accountability through monthly and quarterly business reviews.
Lead project execution for transportation programs by owning the implementation, driving direction, providing guidance to leaders, and linking project requirements to short- and long-term objectives. Tracks progress through action plans and communicates perceived risks to leadership with recommendations for mitigation.
Performs moderately complex analysis of information, problems, and/or data under general supervision. Makes recommendations, based on findings, for the review of more senior staff members.
Focuses on reporting automation, and empowering end users to leverage tools developed to drive understanding and decision making within operations.
Builds productive working relationships with cross functional teams to work collaboratively. Shares knowledge to educate and mentor distribution leaders on performance indicators impacting their operation.
Engage in Transportation and Logistics related projects and other duties as assigned.
What you'll bring:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, supply chain, or relevant field preferred
Minimum of 5 years' experience in domestic transportation or similar industry with progressively increasing responsibility.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications and experience in Business Intelligence Technologies such as Robotic Process Automation (RPA), SQL and Tableau.
Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and critical thinking towards solving complex problems. Able to identify trends and focus on root cause analysis to drive process improvements.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Able to prioritize multiple tasks, strong time management skills and perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment.
Must be a self-starter and highly motivated individual, and comfortable working in a team-based environment.

Within 3 months, you'll:
Complete your Atkore Immersion Program
Begin to identify trends and areas of opportunity for improvement within key metrics and frame action plans to address failures.
Become familiar with our domestic carrier base and monitor performance through regular meetings to drive improvements in tender and operational key performance indicators.
Within 6 months, you'll:
Evaluate the efficiency of operations and transportation procedures according to organizational objectives.
Deliver reporting tools that'll assist leadership with understanding performance across multiple sites within the network.
Set the groundwork for new tools and programs that will help drive operational efficiencies and value to our internal and external customers.
Develop strong relationships with our carrier network, realize improved carrier metrics across key performance indicators, and improve service into RSC network.
