Job Description

The Salvation Army Midland Division Service Extension located in Marion, Illinois, is looking for a Social Services Manager. This position will oversee social services for Southern Illinois. This position provides intake, assessment for individuals seeking Emergency Social Services. The Manager will network with community agencies, programs, and referral resources to benefit clients. Position is expected to comply with and meet The Salvation Army, Federal, State and Local policies and standards. The Social Service Manager will also provide guidance and assistance to designated Service Extension Units. Position will partner with Director on marketing and fundraising efforts to support the services provided in Southern Illinois.
This full-time, 40 hour a week position with starting pay of $42,000 per year!

Essential Functions
Provide on-site and occasional outreach assistance to clients seeking emergency assistance.
Provide persons seeking assistance with intake and assessment activities to determine client eligibility and to match clients with resources. Refer persons to other agencies if assistance is unavailable.
Identify resources available in service areas and maintain a current community resource guide to provide information and referral services and inform persons of the resources available to them.
Network with community agencies and organizations to maximize services to persons and occasionally liaison between clients, The Salvation Army and other agencies.
Record electronic and written client information in paper and computer records and maintain client confidentiality. Expend ESS funding and in-kind gifts in a manner that conforms to spending deadlines and utilizes tracking methods prescribed by Divisional Social Services.
Direct, schedule, and supervise the Pantry Coordinator and volunteers staffing the pantry. Ensure that the food pantry is cleaned, organized, stock rotated to meet state and federal food handling guidelines.
Communicate social service activities to the community. Build and maintain relationships with local media outlets.
Participate in the planning and execution of TSA and community events, seasonal events and resource collection as directed by Thrift Store & Social Services Director. Direct and support all major holiday efforts including Angel Tree, Holiday Food and Kettles.
Provide ESS during disaster situations for extended durations and in extreme conditions.

Education and Experience
Associates Degree and two years related work experience.
Combination of Education and work experience will be considered.
Knowledge of The Salvation Army and Government, State and community resources is helpful.
Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office programs. Possess basic bookkeeping skills.
Must have good communication skills and the ability to work with a wide variety of people.
Possess Strong leadership and organizational skills, along with effective verbal and written communication skills.
Must have reliable transportation, a valid Driver's License and pass TSA MVR check.
Physical and Working Conditions
Capable of occasionally lifting 20 pounds and sometimes up to 40 pounds.
Occasionally move 50 or more pounds using dolly/cart/truck.
Most work will be in indoors.
Some work will be done outdoors or in areas with limited temperature control.
