Summary The ideal candidate would have experience researching and analyzing complex emergency management issues and/or will bring experience working in an operations center or command and control center. Collaborating with region five as an Emergency Management Specialist coordinating concepts of response operations for individual or The Federal Emergency Management Agency public assistance’s programs Responsibilities What will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will collaborate as the Watch Analyst for Region Five/ Response Division performing research, conducting analysis, and providing advice on complex emergency management issues. Specifically, supporting FEMA’s all-hazard mission by conducting the following duties: Preparing input for the Daily Situational Awareness Report (DSAR) and other Watch reports and assisting the Senior Watch Officer and Watch Officer in analyzing current trends, state-of-threat, and cutting-edge technology in order to develop or improve Watch programs. Clarifying problems and identifying appropriate and suitable problem-solving tools, techniques and applications. Incorporating maps and other analytical products into standard and special projects related to response operations. Performing analysis to assess the magnitude of an incident or potential incident to include analyzing initial impact and the resources available for response. What else do I need to know? Qualifications Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The time-in-grade and qualification requirements must be met within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. To qualify for this position at the GS-11 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following: Monitoring the readiness and preparedness of regional Federal, State, and/or local response teams and resources for emerging incidents or potential incidents for natural and man-made situations and Analyzing current trend, state-of-the-art, and cutting-edge technology in order to develop or improve existing Watch programs. or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. or LL.M., if related To qualify for this position at the GS-12 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following: Monitoring the readiness and preparedness of regional Federal, State, and/or local response teams and resources for emerging incidents or potential incidents for natural and man-made situations; and Serving as an information and action focal point for disaster response activities; and Analyzing current trend, state-of-the-art, and cutting-edge technology in order to develop or improve existing Watch programs.
