Summary This position is in the Workplace Violence Prevention Program located under the Chief of the Engagement and Experience Office within the office of the Medical Center Director at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago, IL. The incumbent of this position serves as a Program Specialist and reports to the Workplace Violence Prevention Program Manager for the specific programs and committees related to workplace violence prevention in the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center (JBVAMC). Responsibilities FPL GS-09 MAJOR DUTIES: -Participate as a member of the DBC and will provide administrative assistance to the Chairperson or designee of the Disruptive Behavior Committee -Collect the data from disruptive behavior reports for the annual Workplace Behavioral Risk Assessment -Manage behavioral Patient Record Flags (PRFs) by ensuring that they are entered appropriately -Reviews correspondence responds to it, routes it to the proper staff member, and/or consults with others prior to responding to it -Drafts initial or final correspondence to ensure that actions taken are completed accurately and that appropriate procedures are followed -Uses Microsoft software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Office, Database, Publisher, etc.) effectively to complete and manage correspondence -Participate as a member of the ETAT and will provide administrative assistance to the Chairperson or designee of the Employee Threat Assessment Team -Serve as a trainer for the Prevention & Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB) program -Perform the administrative and personnel management functions related to staff assigned to PMDB within each individual workplace in the facility -Lead recruitment and coordinate new training and continuing education for all certified PMDB trainers in the facility -Help complete the annual Workplace Behavioral Risk Assessment -Performs other related duties as assigned. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level GS-09 without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday – Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 05/16/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05 and for a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: GS-07 Level Qualifications: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to Experience with data analytics programs to gather organizational productivity, analyze problems, and identify appropriate solutions. Oversight and maintenance of sensitive data in accordance with Privacy regulations and policies. Evaluating customer satisfaction interventions with the goal of improving program effectiveness. Interpersonal relations skills in group settings with an ability to organize ideas, present findings, instruct others, and explain recommendations for process improvement. ****NOTE: Experience must be fully documented and detailed in your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.**** OR Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement. (NOTE: A copy of your transcript is required.)OR,Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond successfully completed graduate level education (in excess of the first 6 months or 9 semester hours) and specialized experience to meet total experience requirements. (NOTE: If using education combined with specialized experience to qualify, a copy of your transcript is required.) GS-09 Level Qualifications: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to experience with presenting program data and presentations to senior leadership. Directly manages both internal and external customer issues at the service level. Ability to deliver sensitive data to external program recipients in accordance with Privacy regulations and policies. Implementing and evaluating customer satisfaction interventions with the goal of improving organizational programs. Ability to offer valuable recommendations in group settings that include various organizational departments. ****NOTE: Experience must be fully documented and detailed in your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.**** OR Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must a master’s or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LLB or J.D., if related.
