This team requests EST hours and we prefer candidates able to work hybrid from our Livonia, MI site.

Candidates for this position will join a team of technical experts helping design, develop and improve automatic transmission calibration at Ford Motor Company, with the role having a focus on Transmission On-Board Diagnostics (TOBD) and Independent Plausibility Checking (L2). Candidates will be self-driven individuals capable of leading a team of calibrators through product sign-off, issue resolution, and regulatory requirements’ compliance. Candidates should have excellent organizational skills with a proven record of robust sign-off for at least one full program. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills with a proven record of issue resolution.

Provide technical leadership and guidance around all TOBD and L2 calibration activities. These include:

+ Provide technical direction and support to hardware, calibration & controls community with regards to current and new technologies and requirements as they pertain to TOBD and L2.

+ Provide technical direction and support for issue resolution on current and future programs.

+ Develop and implement TOBD and L2 control system and calibration approach for future programs, including new hybrid architectures.

+ Perform analysis of quality data (warranty, JD Power, QNPS) and connected vehicle information to drive quality improvements for current and future products.

+ Train and develop new calibrators in TOBD and L2 methods.

+ Lead weekly meetings with TOBD and L2 team to discuss issues, DV, software, requirement, etc.

+ Lead team of calibrators towards common approaches and best practices as they apply to TOBD and L2.

+ Maintain and update DV plan for TOBD and L2.

+ Create/Update/Maintain documentation on DV, best practices, and lessons learned.

+ BS in Engineering Degree or equivalent required. Advance engineering or similar degree desired.

+ Minimum of 8 years’ experience in automatic transmission calibration required, with a focus on TOBD/L2 preferred.

+ Demonstrable expertise in TOBD and L2 software / calibration development and sign-off. Requirements definition and capture preferred.

+ Demonstrable expertise in vehicle data analysis. Use of new CV vehicle data preferred.

+ Proficient in the use of calibration tools, including ATI Vision and/or ETAS Inca, PTDiag, DET, MyCanic, etc. MATLAB/Simulink expertise preferred.

+ Proven record of problem-solving skills.

+ Proven record of training and mentorship skills.

+ Excellent written and communication skills, comfortable presenting to senior leadership.

+ Tier II driver certification required.

+ Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

+ MS Office toolset proficiency.

This position is a range of salary grade LL6.
