Job Summary:

Trane is hiring an Energy Services Energy Engineer to join our team in Willowbrook, Illinois. The Energy Engineer functions as a core member of the Trane Energy Services Project Development Team, playing a key role in identification, and quantification of energy conservation measures, equipment optimization opportunities and facility operating savings measures employed as part of a project or solution. This position is responsible for assisting in data collection and analysis to support Trane’s Energy Services business goals. The Energy Engineer will collect, analyze, benchmark, and develop summary reports as necessary to illustrate the pertinent details of building and/or system performance. You will impact the Energy Services projects, as well as leverage energy and control system data to help customers meet their Key Performance Indicator targets and lower utility costs, all while helping Trane meet its mission of reducing the energy intensity of the world.

Responsibilities:

+ Participates as team member of a project development team for the development of energy saving construction projects.

+ Perform building surveys and audits to identify energy conservation measures (ECMs) for architectural, mechanical, plumbing, lighting, and electrical systems in commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities.

+ Analyze and document existing building operation.

+ Complete utility analysis by quantifying and benchmarking a building’s energy use.

+ Review and understand utility rate tariffs.

+ Quantify the energy savings for each ECM via a building simulation / energy model or by utilizing spreadsheet calculations.

+ Work with local utility companies to secure rebates and incentives for our customers.

+ Responsible for analyzing building and energy data to identify meaningful outcomes. Energy Engineer creates consultative documentation to provide to the customer.

+ Oversee the measurement and verification of the project’s ECMs.

+ Review building automation control systems to validate system performance and provide recommendations for optimization.

+ Provide key technical support in pursuit of Trane business, including participation on strategic job acquisition teams.

+ Assist and support all efforts of acquisition and customer satisfaction.

+ Some travel required. Travel to customer job sites is required, which may include outdoor work and/or work in mechanical/equipment rooms. During the site visits, the employee may be exposed to variable weather conditions; moving mechanical parts; heights, and other variable environmental conditions based on location.

Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or equivalent from four-year college or university preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

+ Familiarity with the operation of energy management systems, building automation systems, HVAC Systems and/or temperature controls required.

+ Experience in effectively understanding and manipulation of technical information and responding to questions from fellow team members or customers.

+ Experience collecting data, analyzing and presenting data in a clear and accurate manor.

+ Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations included, but not limited to:

+ DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.

Base Compensation Range: $58,000 – $90,000 annually, plus Bonus.

Total compensation for this role will include a bonus plan. This base pay range is based on US National Averages. Actual base pay could change due to a result of seniority, merit, or geographic location where the work is performed.
