Job Description

Applications are required for each vacancy. Resumes may be attached but will not be accepted in lieu of applications. The application must be signed, dated, completely filled in and returned to the Human Resources Department by the filing date indicated on the Vacancy Announcement. All information submitted is subject to verification.
The City only accepts applications for posted positions.
If selected, City residency must be established within one year of hire (or within the timeframe outlined in bargaining unit contract, if applicable). Residency must be maintained for the duration of employment. Applicants need not be current residents of the City of Peoria to be considered.
After an offer of employment but prior to hire, all applicants must complete a medical examination including a drug screen.
All new hires will be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Announcing an Examination Cycle for placement into the City of Peoria
January 2025 Police Eligibility Pool.
Salary : $65,945.29 ($67,594.39) after certified training)

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m., Friday, August 2, 2024.


Application must include the following:

1. Photocopy of Driver's License.
2. Photocopy of Birth Certificate. NOTE: This should be a copy of the registered (or certified) birth certificate, which is on file at the courthouse in the county of birth. The hospital certificate (with the footprints of the newborn) is NOT an acceptable document.
3. Photocopy of High School Diploma OR High School Transcript OR GED Certificate. You only need to submit one copy out of the three.(You still need to submit a copy of your High School Diploma, High School Transcript or GED Certificate even if you have received a college degree.)
The City of Peoria offers full testing services for the position of Police Recruit through National Testing Network (NTN). To register with NTN and schedule a test, go to www.nationaltesting network.com, select 'Find Jobs', then select (Law Enforcement) jobs and sign up for the City of Peoria.

When you visit the www.nationaltestingnetwork.com website:
1. Complete the NTN registration process and schedule your test. You must complete the Public Safety Self Assessment. 2. Review all information related to the City of Peoria, including minimum requirements, salary, and benefits.
3. Review detailed information about the testing process.
4. Review the Frequently Asked Questions and take an online practice test (if desired).
Upon completion of your scheduled exam, scores are automatically forwarded to the City of Peoria. Candidates who attain a passing score on the entry level exam will be placed on the City of Peoria's eligibility list. The City of Peoria will contact candidates on the list and will invite them to participate in further stages of the selection process.
National Testing Network is a service provided to conduct entry level testing in a standardized, professional environment. National Testing Network does not replace the City of Peoria's responsibility and decision making in the testing process. All candidate results are provided to the City of Peoria where the final decisions are made.
