The lab specialist will provide technical assistance in basic skills for Fire Basic Operations ( FBO ) classes, and they will assist students in mastery of basic firefighter skills, knowledge, and abilities.

Required Qualification(s)+ A minimum of five (5) years documented fire service experience.
+ Firefighter III or Advance Firefighter Certification by the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal.
+ Fire Instructor I & II Certification by the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal.
+ Individuals selected for this position will complete (and maintain) the required compliance training as determined by the College of Lake County.
+ Individuals selected are required to attend the College of Lake County Core training presentation.
+ Must be student orientated and supportive of transferring firefighting skills.
+ Hold a minimum of a Class “B” Non CDL Illinois driver’s license (or equivalent).
+ Proven ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Desired Qualification(s)+ Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science Technology or equivalent
+ Promotion to rank of fire department Lieutenant or above, or assignment to the training division of a fire department.
+ Preference will be given to ensure the three typical fire department platoon schedules are balanced.
+ Bilingual in Spanish and English
Posting Date 05/09/2024 Closing Date 07/01/2024 Expected Start Date Special Instructions SummaryThis is a part-time flex position and employment shall be on an at-will basis, the duration of which shall be in accordance with the needs of the College of Lake County.
Part-time flex employees are not eligible to participate in certain benefit offerings at the College, including tuition reimbursement, tuition waiver, or health insurance. Part-time flex employees will be eligible for paid time off dependent on scheduled hours.
Pay Rate $25/HR. Full-Time/Part-Time Part-Time Flex Location Extension Sites Total Hours per week 19 Work ScheduleDetails about the schedule will be discussed during the interview.
