The College of Lake County ( CLC ) is seeking an Instructor, Nursing for the instruction of first and second-year college-level courses to a diverse student body at our Grayslake, Lakeshore, and Southlake campuses as well as local business, community, and industry partners. The College of Lake County offers an Associate in Applied Science, Nursing degree within a limited-enrollment program at the Grayslake Campus. The program prepares individuals to practice as Registered Nurses in entry level positions across healthcare settings. The curriculum is a balance of general education courses, nursing didactic courses, and experiential learning opportunities including simulation and skills lab as well as clinical rotations.

Required Qualification(s)

+ Master’s Degree with a major in Nursing; licensed to practice nursing in the State of Illinois AND two (2) years’ tested experience.

+ Proven ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

The priority deadline is June 2, 2024. Additional applications may be considered after the priority deadline. This position may remain open until filled. Applicants who will earn the required degree by May 17, 2024, will be considered.

Applicants selected for an interview will be required to submit a minimum of two (2) letters of recommendation.

This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position. Salary placement is commensurate with education and experience. An optional contract for the summer session offers the potential for significantly greater earnings.

The minimum 2024 – 2025 academic year (fall and spring semester) base salary range was $69,117 with a master’s degree to $83,790 with a doctorate in the subject field.

Faculty may be assigned to any of the three campuses; Grayslake, Lakeshore or Southlake. New faculty hires are required to attend orientation the week (August 5-9) before the start date of August 12, 2024.

Class assignments/subject varies according to course schedule. Ability to teach days, evenings, and weekends as determined by the needs of the program in any given semester. Ability to teach on Grayslake, Lakeshore or Southlake campus required.

+ Selects, prepares, maintains, and updates current curriculum, course outlines and printed and non-printed instructional materials.

+ Provides students and the academic division a syllabus that clearly states course objectives and learning outcomes, attendance policies in line with those of the College, texts and readings, timelines and evaluation criteria, and any other information required by College, academic division, or department.

+ Meets all classes at assigned times. If unable to meet an assigned class, reports absence to supervisor and academic division staff in an appropriate manner.

+ Teaches assigned courses in subject field each academic semester to meet the needs of students, the department and the community. Delivers course content using a variety of teaching styles at various times and campus locations.

+ Provides instructional support to the students. Assists in student advisement and refers students, when appropriate, to sources of specialized services within the College. Is available for student consultation through phone, email or appropriately established office hours (in-person or online).

+ Participates in developing and administering department and college-wide assessment of student learning. Uses departmental testing instruments as provided and administers other instruments designed to measure student learning outcomes as requested and required by the department, academic division or College. Provides all results as requested.

+ Evaluates student performance in meeting course objectives and learning outcomes through assignments, projects, discussions, or examinations. Provides feedback to students in a timely manner on student performance.

+ Maintains accurate grade records as required by the College. Submits all attendance and grade records electronically prior to the required deadlines. Produces appropriate grade records for supervisor upon request.

+ Uses the appropriate College policies and procedures to resolve and document student complaints,
