Job Description

Job Summary
Under the direction of the Chair of the Department of Radiology, is responsible for the supervision and interpretations of body imaging studies obtained within the department and Cook County Health & Hospitals System (CCHHS).  The Chair of the Division of Body Imaging is responsible for organization of the Division of Body Imaging and to support the continued provision of quality body imaging examinations and interventions for patients in the health system.  Conducts assessment of staffing, equipment and supply needs is expected for the division and elsewhere in the CCHHS.  Participates in the hiring and evaluation of the physician staffing the division.

This position is exempt from Career Service under the CCHHS Personnel Rules.

General Administrative Responsibilities

Collective Bargaining
Review applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements and consult with Labor Relations to generate management proposals
Participate in collective bargaining negotiations, caucus discussions and working meeting
Discipline
Document, recommend and effectuate discipline at all levels
Work closely with labor relations and/or labor counsel to effectuate and enforce applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements
Initiate, authorize and complete disciplinary action pursuant to CCHHS system rules, policies, procedures and provision of applicable collective bargaining agreements
Supervision
Direct and effectuate CCHHS management policies practices
Access and proficiently navigate CCHHS records system to obtain and review information necessary to execute provisions of applicable collective bargaining agreements
Management
Contribute to the management of CCHHS staff and CCHHS’ systemic development and success
Discuss and develop CCHHS system policy and procedure.
General Administrative Responsibilities continued
Consistently use independent judgment to identify operational staffing issues and needs and perform the following functions as necessary; hire. transfer, suspend, layoff, recall, promote, discharge, assign, direct or discipline employees pursuant to applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements
Work with Labor Relations to discern past practice when necessary
Typical Duties
Follows departmental and hospital policies
Interprets radiologic studies in a timely manner
Dictates final reports in a timely manner to support reviewed studies
Maintains productivity related to assigned duties
Supervises Radiology residents and technologist when appropriate
Reviews Radiology residents preliminary reports, approve or correct as necessary
Participates in the education of residents, organizes goals and expectations of the Body Imaging rotation including didactic lecture preparation
Provides radiologic consultative services for other clinical departments within Cook County Health & Hospitals System (CCHHS)
Participates in multidisciplinary conferences as assigned
Performs procedures in areas where clinical privileges are granted
Provides coverage to the various areas of the department and hospital system as requested by the Chair
Takes calls assigned by the department Chair including remote review of studies
Participates in departmental and/or system wide quality improvements/assurance efforts as assigned
Maintains an educational environment conducive to educating the residents
Coordinates Body Imaging services throughout the system and unifies protocols related to performing Body Imaging examinations at the multiple sites
Evaluates and participates in designing specifications for new equipment or services
Oversees and maintains continued safety and quality assurance programs specific to the area of Body Imaging
Oversees and maintains accreditation of services in Body imaging
Performs other duties as assigned
Reporting Relationships
Reports to the Chair of the Department of Radiology

Minimum Qualifications
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy Medicine (DO) from an accredited college or university
Licensed physician in the State of Illinois, or have the ability to obtain licensure prior to the start of employment
Successful completion of an Accreditation Counsel for Graduated Medical Education (ACGME) accredited Diagnostic Radiology Residency
Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology
Completion of a Body Imaging Fellowship in the United States
Current experience interpreting all types of Body CT and MRI examinations as well as all aspects of General Radiology
Preferred Qualifications
Experience as a lead physician or section/division chair in Body Imaging
Experience interpreting prostate MRI examinations
Experience interpreting PET/CT examinations
Experience interpreting Cardiac CT and MRI examinations
Recent (last 36 months) diagnostic radiology research or publishable scholarly activity
