Description:

Under the supervision of the Senior Instructional Designer, the Instructional Development Specialist collaborates with content experts and colleagues to develop educational initiatives (e.g. online and asynchronous courses, credit and noncredit courses, certificates and degree programs) for the unit's primary audiences. This includes defining scope of work for each project, preparing a project plan, drafting a timeline, implementing the development plan and creating instructional resources, as needed. Additionally, the Instructional Development Specialist will provide consultation services as well as assist with online program orientations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Utilize market research to guide development of instruction for high job growth occupations and online initiatives that meet the unit's mission. Design courses and training programs using appropriate learning principles and interactive e-learning models as appropriate. Develop processes, program standards, and templates for the creation of learning programs and new online learning initiatives. Establish and maintain partnerships with external organizations to create a pipeline for curriculum resources that can be integrated into the programs created. Assist with program evaluation to ensure quality of the program.
Collaborate with content experts to identify learning needs, objectives and appropriate instructional methodologies to create high-quality, interactive courses. Update and redesign existing courses and training programs to meet target audiences' needs as identified by the content experts, learning analytics, and workforce needs. Revise instructional materials according to identified design changes. Communicate with project stakeholders to ensure project scope, goals and objectives are being met. Ensure the instructional integrity of development projects through systematic design ad clear scripts, narrative and storyboards.
Maintain curriculum quality through the creation of original learning materials, design of course activities, utilization of course management tools, and review of academic and professional literature for pertinent content.
