Job Description
- Illini FS* is headquartered in Urbana, Illinois with branches in five eastern Illinois counties. Illini FS has about 200 employees and approximately 6,000 customers. The cooperative does business in agronomy, energy, tires, and retail. Illini FS is part of the GROWMARK System, an agricultural cooperative serving more than 100,000 customers across North America and Ontario, Canada. * PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT* Manages seed inventory, coordinates all seed bookings, and ensures the timely delivery of all seed to locations. * ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS* Tracks all company-owned seed handling containers and manages discount chart reconciliations Monitors product inventory, demand, usage, transfers and makes recommendations for process improvement to support division initiatives and lower costs Assists with all seed bookings, manage seed inventories, and ensure the timely delivery of seed to all locations Works with management teams across the agronomy business locations to evaluate seed needs and inventory levels to ensure product is transferred appropriately and timely to meet customer demand Communicates to the Agronomy Marketing Managers and Seed Specialists the status of seed bookings, sales, deliveries, and returns Supports the marketing efforts of the Agronomy Division and develops, maintains and supports functions necessary to provide timely flow of information Gathers, maintains and reports seed bookings on a weekly basis or as directed Keeps an updated record on seed longs and shorts Reports seed availability status to Crop Specialists weekly Stays current with the numbering and grade system of all three seed brands Utilizes technology and programs to maximize seed inventory efficiency Communicates with all seed partners on a regular basis Promptly notifies the Agronomy Division Manager with any critical seed issues Reconciles seed inventories at the end of the season in order to stay within return guidelines of all brands Manages bookings of seed treatments and inoculants Attends all seed training sessions as directed by the Agronomy Division Manager Quotes prices only under the direction of the Agronomy Division Manager Works with accounting department to ensure that GPOS is 100% * OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS* Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Writes routine reports and correspondence Speaks effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization to train or inform on seed updates and process changes Communicates effectively over the phone and have the ability to read and understand industry terminology related to seed Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply Performs all other duties as assigned * _REQUIREMENTS_* Normally requires an Associate’s Degree in business, agriculture or marketing and 1 – 3 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record Must be able to travel independently and/or work extended hours as business conditions warrant Occasionally required to lift 50-75 lbs.
