Our Markets and Business Development function brings together business, sector, and account knowledge along with EY competencies and solutions to meet unique client needs. The Markets and Business Development organization shapes and drives an integrated growth strategy across EY’s largest accounts, industry sectors, solutions and services, while demonstrating and achieving market leadership through a client centric culture.

The Opportunity

As a Data and Analytics Assistant Director within the Strategic Pricing & Insights (SPI) group and the broader Pursuits & Commercial Excellence function, you will play a pivotal role in maximizing profitability through the development and enhancement of pricing, pursuit and related analytics used by our global team of Commercial Architects, Industry and Sector Leaders, Service Line Leaders, and Business Development colleagues by optimizing the monetization of EY’s portfolio of solutions and services through rigorous data science and analysis. You will assist in designing, developing and maintaining a suite of Excel-, SQL- Web- and Power App/Platform-based assets and tools supporting market and competitive intelligence, client segmentation, pricing recommendations, solution optimizations and ongoing financial performance. You will execute the SPI analytics program with a keen focus on understanding discount and incentive model optimization, account-type and sector price segmentation models, uncovering client’s willingness to pay and elevating insights from our win-loss program while collaborating with members of the SPI Competitive Intelligence and SPI Commercial Architect teams in support of profitable growth.

Your key responsibilities

As a Data and Analytics Assistant Director, you will assist in leading and contributing to the analytics function with a focus on:

+ Executing the data engineering strategy to allow for a scalable and reliable data architecture supporting multiple platforms considering data ingestion, transformation, and storage; supported with detailed documentation and maintenance of processes, methods and procedures including Python and SQL codes

+ Enhancing data handling, data hygiene, data cleaning and data modeling methods to connect structured and unstructured data using Python, R, Power Platform, SharePoint and Excel to uncover market performance improvement opportunities

+ Integrating innovative approaches to individual and team work products such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, data mining, predictive modeling, neural networks and simulation to mitigate price/value leakage across the pursuit and delivery phases of an engagement

+ Improving platform architectures, data models, recommendation engines, and user experience to accelerate adoption and enhance business outcomes

+ Designing and developing reporting dashboards to deliver ongoing and ad-hoc communications for a diverse set of stakeholders in a clear, compelling and actionable way

+ Collaborating with markets, sales and strategic pursuits leaders, pricing and commercial leaders and other key internal stakeholders to understand business challenges, market and commercial opportunities and develop innovative insights and solutions to meet or exceed objectives

+ Mentor and support a diverse virtual global team of business intelligence and data analytics professionals in support of consistently delivering innovative and timely insights that integrate storytelling to influence without authority

Skills and attributes for success

+ Lead with curiosity and embrace a quantitative-led, hypothesis-driven approach to understanding and synthesizing disparate and/or ambiguous data/intelligence/observations in developing the recommended sales/price/solution insight and recommendation

+ Collaborate effectively across a matrix organization showcasing business acumen, an ability to build trust-based relationships, and an agility in navigating conflicting interests to deliver high quality work products

+ Experience in mathematics (statistics, linear algebra, differential calculus); data visualization (Tableau, Power BI, Qlikview); programming (SQL, Python, R, Java); data analysis (feature engineering, data wrangling, EDA) and machine learning (classification, regression, reinforcement learning, deep learning, clustering, dimensionality reduction)

+ Knowledge of a broad spectrum of pricing strategies applicable to professional services including cost-, competitor-, value-, and client willingness-to-pay-driven

+ Provide exceptional client service (internal/external) across multiple projects by consistently demonstrating the ability to prioritize critical activities to meet business needs under limited, often demanding, timelines

To qualify for the role, you must have

+ 6+ years of experience in analytics, data science, and development of complex pricing models

+ High proficiency in MS-Excel, MS-Power App/Platform, SQL, Python and R

+ Track record designing, developing and maintaining analytic dashboards, data visualizations, reports and recommendation engines

+ Strong proficiency in project management, executive presence and influencing skills

+ Effective oral (virtual/in-person) and written communications

+ High proficiency at collaborating, managing conflicting interests and dealing with ambiguity

+ A University/Bachelor’s Degree, STEM, Economics, Data Science or Analytics preferred

Ideally, you’ll also have

+ An advanced degree or MBA

+ Flexibility to travel on occasion
