Job Description
Job Summary
The Project Analyst supports project management efforts by reviewing and analyzing the financial health of projects. The Project Analyst works closely with key stakeholders and project managers to produce financial models, variances, and accurate and timely reports for assigned projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct weekly and monthly review and analysis of assigned projects, including review of revenue recognition, gross profit, forecasted hours, reconciliations, and project closeout and project performance variances
- Monitor monthly compliance reports, to ensure timely reporting of revenue and billing deliverables by Project Manager
- Prepare monthly reporting requirements for assigned projects, including backlog and other ad-hoc financial analysis as required
- Ensure financial adjustments are properly documented, reviewed and approved
- Enter project budgets, including payment schedule into ERP system
- Review/reconcile project budgets to ensure accuracy against contracted values
- Prepare project level actual versus budget/forecast variance analysis monthly, as well as monthly reports for distribution in analyzing monthly results
- Provide input on program risks and opportunities, such as cost overruns and scheduling delays
- Attend project meetings as needed (i.e., start-up, kick-off, and other project related meetings)
- Provide effective guidance to project leader and team management regarding potential change in statement of work requiring revised budget
- Maintain complete and accurate project financial records in accordance with GAAP
- Other duties as assigned.
Professional Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field OR 5+ years of equivalent work experience
- 4+ years of accounting or project finance experience
- Knowledge of revenue recognition, variance analysis, unbilled/unearned and cash flow management, and backlog forecasting
- Understanding of program costs, revenue recognition, profit, cash and collections
- Experience communicating and presenting financial data to other functions in an accurate, concise, and understandable manner
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience utilizing ERP software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Physical Demands
Sedentary work: exerting up to ten (10) pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Considerable time is spent at a desk using a computer (fine motor skills, visual acuity) and frequent use of telephone (talking, hearing).
Working Conditions
The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
Additional Requirements
- Up to 10% travel ( i.e. job sites) may be required based upon business need
