Responsibilities
Using a holistic approach, designs, develops, evaluates, and modifies end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle. Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics. Ensures requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods. Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower-level detailed implementation requirements. Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development. Designs interfaces and brings system elements together, so they work as a whole. Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. Customer liaison and support for business development activities and to understand and shape requirements. Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts. Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with multi-discipline engineering teams to develop lower-level detailed requirements. Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation. Generates system level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures. Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements.
Responsibilities:
Provide a high level of technical understanding for problem solving and troubleshooting when working with multiple teams across multiple vendors of equipment (Windows, Linux, Cisco, Oracle, Amazon Web Services, Azure, VMware, NetApp and more)
Work on requests for our SolarWinds environment that consists of the following modules - IPAM, NPM, SRM, SAM, NCM, WPM, VMAN, VNQM, UDT and DPA
Work on requests for our Pingdom environment. Will be required to create Uptime and Synthetic transactions
Develop custom properties and improve upon already established custom properties for proper categorization used in alerts, reports, and dashboards
Ensure SNMP, WMI and Agent polling is working for all devices within our environment. If not working, be able to work with appropriate team to correct this
Perform monthly patching work on SolarWinds VM servers
Create Dashboards, Alerts and Reports as needed per projects and requests from customers and other internal teams
Qualifications
5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD; an Associate's Degree with 10 years experience
Strong understanding of the following modules for SolarWinds - IPAM, NPM, SRM, SAM, NCM, WPM, VMAN, VNQM, UDT and DPA
Understanding of custom property tagging and organizing within SolarWinds application
Excellent Organizational Skills for documenting and categorizing the custom properties within SolarWinds and recording of credentials for SNMP, WMI and Agent
Excellent Troubleshooting Skills and usage of tools such as ping, telnet and traceroute
Ability to work independently and with others
Strong knowledge in PowerShell and Command Prompt commands
Understands API queries and able to poll SolarWinds and Pingdom application via APIs
Strong attention to detail when resolving issues, documenting work and troubleshooting
Strong communication skills are required
Excellent documentation skills are required
Ability to troubleshoot with Splunk
Knowledge of SNMP walks and SNMP traps
Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical executives and managers
Act as part of a structured operations team in support of resolving technical issues
Availability to troubleshoot and resolve issues during off-work hours and/or extended hours when outages or projects require
