job summary:
A Research Engineer is needed for a world leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives in the Pontiac, IL area. The main function of a research engineer is to research, design, develop, and test mechanical products and systems, ensuring they meet customer specifications and project feasibility while collaborating with various team members and utilizing CAD tools.

responsibilities:
+ Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanical devices.
+ Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine time and cost feasibility for projects.
+ Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operations and make recommendations to the maintenance crew.
+ Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using tools, equipment, or software.
Skills:
+ Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving ability.
+ Team player and detail-oriented.
+ Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings, and common computations.
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
+ Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD).
Education and Experience:
+ BS in Engineering.
+ 2-5 years of experience.
