Job Description:

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for collaborating with internal stakeholders such as Category Management, Legal, Compliance, and others as necessary to gather information and requirements, using that information to inform negotiation strategy, take to market recommendations, contract template selection, drafting, and executing contracts that support Intermountain’s best interests and while mitigating risk. The Sourcing Specialist negotiates pricing and terms, and manages project and work requests, catalog items, and contract repository entries as relevant. This individual collaborates on business requirements, the content scope of initiatives, expectations of the requests, quality measures, and sets strategy and reasonable milestone timelines with internal customers.

This role will work full time 8 AM – 5 PM MST or 7 AM – 4 PM MST, full Intermountain benefit package including paid holidays. This is a remote position, maybe 1-2x per year travel into the Supply Chain Center. No on call requirements.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing Specialist I:

Our Contracting Specialist I position under limited supervision is responsible for delivering high-quality work to internal Category Management customers supporting the contracting initiatives of the organization. Working directly with the Category Leaders, the successful Contracting Specialist I proactively communicates and collaborates while moving projects through the defined contracting process according to our policies and processes, while leveraging our standard contracting templates.

The Contracting Specialist I manages the catalog items, pricing, contract repository, project/work requests, and the contract life cycle and works under the direction of the Director of Contracting for quality assurance, prioritization, and process. This individual collaborates on business requirements, the content scope of initiatives, expectations of the requests, quality measures, and sets reasonable milestone timelines with the Category Leaders.

This position will work within the Procurement Supply Chain Organization (SCO) function (contracting, sourcing, and purchasing), cross-functionally (collaborating with AP, Compliance, Security, Legal, etc.) to drive closure of contracting-related projects and to mitigate contractual risk on behalf of IH in support of achieving the broader SCO goals.

Strategic Sourcing Specialist II:

The level II Strategic Sourcing Specialist demonstrates the following skills and competencies and typically works on assignments that are medium to high complexity and size.:

+ Negotiates complex contracts, full Agreements, Statements of Work (SOWs), Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), trials and evaluations.

+ Develops pricing strategies to include take to market options (RFPs/RFQs), GPO strategies, bids and auctions.

+ Confident stakeholder management and strong executive communication skills.

+ Identifies continuous improvement opportunities, and leads, develops and/or implements initiatives.

+ Has strong written and verbal communication skills, is able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team structure and enjoys critical thinking and creative problem solving.

+ Is detail-oriented and can build relationships, identify continuous improvement or value-added solutions, and uses both information and influence to drive results.

Strategic Sourcing Specialist III:

The level III Strategic Sourcing Specialist demonstrates the following skills and competencies and typically works on assignments that are high to very-high complexity and size.:

+ Negotiates and manages highly complex sourcing projects with high organizational impact and complex stakeholder management. Comfortable with complex language with minimal support. Develops strategy across suppliers and/or categories with a larger vision.

+ Develops creative strategies across pricing, terms, and operational efficiencies to drive value and mitigate risk.

+ Actively mentors, trains, and leads projects to support the ongoing growth and process improvement within the team.

+ Confident stakeholder management and strong executive communication skills.

+ Identifies continuous improvement opportunities, and leads, develops and/or implements initiatives.

+ Has strong written and verbal communication skills, is able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team structure and enjoys critical thinking and creative problem solving.

+ Is detail-oriented and can build relationships, identify continuous improvement or value-added solutions, and uses both information and influence to drive results.

Minimum Qualifications

Level I:

+ Experience managing projects, prioritizing work in a fast-based business environment, communicating effectively (verbal and written), providing high levels of customer service, working on a team

+ Capability in financial and data analysis

+ Mastery of office technology tools (including but not limited to: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

+ Experience working in supply chain procurement (sourcing, contracting, purchasing).

Level II:

+ Demonstrated experience and expertise managing projects, prioritizing work in a fast-paced business environment, communicating effectively (verbal and written), providing high levels of customer service, working on a team.

+ Demonstrated mastery of office technology tools (including but not limited to: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Must be able to proficiently utilize the track changes, compare, and combine features in Word.

+ Experience with sourcing methodologies, negotiation strategies, and/or contract language and construction.

Level III:

+ Demonstrated experience and expertise managing projects, prioritizing work in a fast-paced business environment, communicating effectively (verbal and written), providing high levels of customer service, working on a team.

+ Demonstrated mastery of office technology tools (including but not limited to: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Must be able to proficiently utilize the track changes, compare, and combine features in Word.

+ Thorough understanding of sourcing methodologies, negotiation strategies, and contract language and construction

Preferred Qualifications

Level I:

+ Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business management, or related field. Education must be obtained through an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

+ Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM).

+ 3-5 years industry expertise in contracting and sourcing.

+ Extensive knowledge of healthcare supply chain, pharma, product, service, software, and equipment knowledge, is highly.

Level II:

+ Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree degree (business, healthcare, supply chain, law or equivalent)

+ Three years of experience in a role requiring industry expertise in healthcare contracting and sourcing.

+ Experience with sourcing methodologies, negotiation strategies, and / or contract language and construction.

+ Project Management experience

+ Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills

+ Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills (i.e. problem identification, research and resolution).

Level III:

+ Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree degree (business, healthcare, supply chain, law or equivalent)

+ Five years of experience in a role requiring industry expertise in healthcare contracting and sourcing.

+ Experience with sourcing methodologies, negotiation strategies, and / or contract language and construction.

+ Project Management experience

+ Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills

+ Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills (i.e. problem identification, research and resolution).
