Job Description
35% Under general direction, serves as a Junior Applications Developer/Analyst for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) supporting the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC):
- Performs technical and advisory functions supporting the department’s Offender/Juvenile Tracking systems, including the analysis, coding, and testing of the system.
- Writes detailed specifications that will be used to code and test programs.
- Coordinates programming activities with other professional staff utilizing Agile and DevOps methodology.
- Monitors the preparation, review and revision of program procedures, methods, and manuals
30% Actively participates in the analysis, development, coding, testing, and documenting of complex projects dealing with offender and juvenile management applications, programs, and systems, using Visual Studio, Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services & Entity Framework Core, Blazor, Bootstrap, Power BI, JavaScript, .Net, C#, Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Dynamics CRM:
- Analyzes stakeholder information technology needs.
- Contributes to feasibility studies, work plans, cost estimates and alternative approaches under direction of Senior Developers
- Plans and develops techniques to accomplish conversion to automated processing
15% Interviews and consults with stakeholders and Application Support staff regarding revisions, maintenance and improvements to existing systems or development of new systems:
- Performs studies and analysis of user requirements for the population management systems
10% Develops and maintains cross-check and audit procedures to ensure accuracy of operations and to correct deviations from specifications.
5% Keeps abreast of new developments in Web Application Technologies and DevOps fields:
- Continues education by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on IT products, vendors, techniques and procedures.
- Attends demonstrations and exhibitions related to assigned operations.
5% Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
