Dewberry's Peoria, IL office includes over 40 design professionals, including a large Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Structural (MEPS) Group focused on design services for nationwide clients in specialized facility types and specialized design services. Our experience includes high performance buildings, net zero energy design, renewable energy technologies, microgrid and energy storage system design, energy and climate resilience, and services related to decarbonization/electrification of the built environment. Our Peoria MEPS group contains subject matter experts in leadership roles in international professional organizations such as ASHRAE. Because our backlog continues to grow and energy market transformation is accelerating demand for our engineering expertise, we are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join our Peoria, IL office.
Because of increasing demand for mechanical and energy engineering expertise, we are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join our Peoria, IL office. As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will be responsible for providing operational and technical guidance for our design resources in all areas of work we do associated with Mechanical engineering. Assist the Mechanical Discipline Managers within a Business Unit/Office by providing them operational and technical guidance to help meet the client's desires and budget. Work with a team of engineers on a variety of private, public, and federal projects. In addition to working with Mechanical engineers, this individual will team with electrical, plumbing/fire protection, civil, structural, and other disciplines to provide full-range services to our local, regional and national clients. In short, provide operational and technical guidance associated with Mechanical requirements to accomplish our commitments. Reports to the Mechanical Discipline Manager.
Responsibilities

 

The Mechanical Project Engineer would be expected to provide the following to others on the design team to effectively and successfully complete projects.
Technical guidance and quality oversight, including code review, of all project work involving Mechanical engineering.
Technical training and development of staff.
Assist in establishing and improving standards, practices, guidelines, and specifications for mechanical discipline area.
Engineer of Record
Provide "on-the-spot" advice and decisions - technical and cost estimates.
Coordination with all the disciplines involved, including outside consultants.
Technical interface with code officials and contractors.

 


Required Skills & Required Experience

 

Accomplished professional engineer (PE). Existing licensure in IL is preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience
Experience should include technical oversight of multiple projects with proven success providing technical oversight on projects that meet contract specifications and technical standards to the client on time and within budget.
Self-motivated with highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
Well organized, takes good notes.
