The Impact Youll Make in this Role

As an engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Support CI
  • Run LMS and engineered standards
  • Identify bottlenecks in pick, pack, ship processes.
  • Implement WFM
  • Revisit slotting tool that will handle 2 standards deviations of sku velocity variance and seasonality
  • Focus on location utilization
  • Capital Planning. Leads the global capital planning process for assigned divisions, businesses, and/or plants. Executes capital spending in alignment with the operating units' strategic plans and financial goals. Provides input related to capital needs, plans, and impact to division personnel. Understands financial statements and the impact capital investments have on the business P&L. Participates in division decision-making, including factors such as technology options, investment requirements, acquisition reviews, renewal spending, and site selection. Acts as a resource to identify and leverage corporate and external resources to achieve productivity and financial goals.
  • Engineering Technology. Develops new and advances existing technologies to maintain 3Ms leading position and meet future business needs. Identifies and fills gaps in technical expertise to support current and future business needs. Plays a key role in maintaining 3M's intellectual property. (15%)
  • Compliance/Protect the Corporation. Manages processes with a moderate to large component of risk such as OSHA covered, highly regulated, or hazardous components/operations. Protects the companys employees, assets, and intellectual property. Ensures compliance to environmental, health, safety, regulatory, intellectual property and accounting requirements. Provides direction for effective and consistent use of design standards and guidelines. Promotes and drives corporate programs/initiatives, and compliance with professional and quality standards and corporate policies and procedures. Acts in a manner consistent with 3Ms values, practices, and ethical standards.
  • Leadership Activities. Works closely with business partners to develop capital investment projects that align with the clients operational and strategic objectives. Serves actively as a member of the Engineering Council. Sponsors, leads, and participates on engineering committees and teams. May serve as the Engineering representative on corporate committees.

 

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Twelve (12) years of engineering experience in a private, public, government or military environment
