Job Description
40% Under administrative direction, serves as a Configuration Management Architect for the Illinois Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT):
- Performs complex professional and advisory functions in the ServiceNow Platform Section.
- Defines, implements, and maintains the ServiceNow Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
- Serves as a CMDB expert ensuring strategic alignment while providing architectural leadership and guidance to ServiceNow developers and administrators including the coding and development of patterns, probes, and sensors for Discovery and Service Mapping.
- Serves as a lead in the implementation and maintenance of the central CMDB and related infrastructure.
- Identifies, verifies, and architects the federation of data which will comprise the CMDB including external sources and development and management of architectural documentation describing the Common Services Data Model 2.0 and the federation of data from external sources.
- Analyzes and assists staff in the identification and resolution of CMDB problems.
- Uses frameworks and processes such as Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), IT operations management (ITOM), and system development lifecycle (SDLC) in the performance of these duties.
- Utilizes technologies such as Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and web services integration (SOAP, REST); JavaScript, XML, HTML, SQL Server, and Active Directory to perform these duties.
30% Serves as a project coordinator for large scale requests:
- Performs request reviews, project documentation, project planning, and assignment of work tasks.
- Monitors complex and time-sensitive schedules including tracking testing reviews and planning and coordinating training for unit staff.
- Monitors and reviews daily schedules to ensure jobs are completed accurately and on time.
- Provides status reports to manager as directed.
15% Prepares technical, testing, and end-user documentation:
- Maintains system protocols by writing and updating procedures and maintaining user documentation.
- Utilizes tools such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Visio, and SharePoint in performance of duties.
10% Keeps abreast of new developments in the ServiceNow Platform and Information Technology (IT) field:
- Continues education by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
- Attends demonstrations and exhibitions related to assigned operations.
5% Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
