Description

The Career Counselor I provide introductory career counseling services to potential Career Services program clients and to support active clients in identifying goals and developing a realistic action plan designed to lead to employment. This position provides career counseling services in individual and group settings and includes the facilitation and/or development of one-time or ongoing job-skill training workshops and seminars. This position is also responsible for developing relationships
with employers to best assist clients in securing job opportunities.
Responsibilities
Career Counseling
Evaluates the employment-related goals, job skills, and other barriers of potential clients against program guidelines to determine career and employment services.
Guides and supports assigned clients and groups toward developing modern and relevant job search skills, e.g. resumes, cover letters, interviewing skills, networking,
and the use of social media in the job search.
Initiates, develops, and maintains relationships with current and potential employers on behalf of clients to assist in securing employment.
Identifies and evaluates clients' barriers to employment and refers clients to internal and external resources, as applicable.
Utilizes all Agency resources to increase the clients' opportunities for employment.
Monitors clients' progress and overall success toward their goals through active engagement and follow through.
Presents job readiness materials, workshops, and seminars to small and large groups.
Assists in facilitating ongoing groups.
Program Support
Performs administrative duties as required by the Agency, including creation and maintenance of electronic case files, within the required time frames.
Collects, processes, and records clients' fee payment when administrative support is unavailable.
Gathers, records, and reports on pertinent data points for all assigned clients.
Maintains and/or develops new professional competencies through in-service training, Agency-sponsored professional programs, and other appropriate
coursework and seminars.
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited program.
Knowledge of career counseling or job placement activities.
Experience with resume writing, LinkedIn profile creation, etc.
One to three years of work experience in a related field preferred.
Working knowledge of MS Office Suite programs; Word, Excel, etc.
Licensed or certified counselor given strong consideration, e.g. LPC, LCPC, NCC, LSW, LCSW.
Flexible schedule with the ability to work some evening or weekend hours.
Able to work from multiple Agency locations to meet program and client needs.
This position requires site visits to locations which may or may not be accessible by public transportation, reliable transportation needed
May be assigned to off-site seminars, meetings, job fairs and professional training or conferences.
Knowledge and/or familiarity with Jewish culture preferred.

Compensation:The minimum compensation for this position is $40,000 annually.
