Description:

Ambulatory Pharmacy Services, a unit within the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the UIC College of Pharmacy, is experiencing growth and is currently seeking qualified Pharmacy Technicians to join our diverse team of professionals. These level II positions play an important role in serving the patients, employees, and students of UIC and UI Health.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician II will perform technical job functions and responsibilities which optimize safe and efficient medication preparation and delivery to our customers.

Filling outpatient prescriptions
preparing sterile compounds for take home and clinic use,
providing excellent customer service to all,
entering prescription orders into a computerized system,
filling prescriptions, maintaining inventory, cash register/point of sale transactions,
assisting in maintaining an efficient workflow,
navigating complex processes and systems,
understanding and acting in accordance with the laws pertaining to confidentiality,
basic pharmaceutical compounding skills (sterile and non-sterile),
related tasks and projects as required.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

1. Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the State of Illinois.

2. Any one of the following that equals six (6)months:

A. Successful completion of a formal training program in technical, non-professional pharmaceutical procedures and practices.

OR

B. Work experience in technical, non-professional pharmaceutical procedures and practices.

3. One (1) year (12 months) of work experience as a pharmacy technician.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certified Pharmacy Technician
Previous retail pharmacy experience
Non-sterile and sterile compounding experience
