Job Description

State Farm (Bloomington, IL) seeks a Lead Software Engineer to apply skills, tools, security processes, applications, and programming languages to complete complex assignments. Specific duties include: utilize up-to-date coding, testing, security, DevOps, and software engineering practices to maintain and create new applications that support business requirements; collect and analyze information to identify customer's technical needs, suggest solutions and develop implementation and integration plans (e.g., technical proposals); be responsible for the analysis, design, deployment, support, and security of technology to ensure the organization is efficiently managing its technology and data-related assets in accordance with market best-practices and external regulations; exhibit DevOps and Agile mindset where team is accountable for the product from inception to sunset; possess an understanding of User Experience practices to improve usability and interaction between the customer and product; apply a wide application of complex principles, theories, and concepts in computer science for software engineering solutions. Occasional travel required within the United States. Option to work remotely but required travel to local office once per quarter if lives within 180 miles of office.

 

Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field of study, plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Software Engineer, Developer or similar position with a focus in Gosu and Object Oriented programming. Specific experience must include 5 years of experience in each of the following: Gosu integration and configuration; designing, coding and testing in the Guidewire PolicyCenter application; working with Java frameworks, such as SpringBoot and Junit; working with Java and RESTful web services; working with Oracle Database and/or SQL; and working with object oriented design and coding principles (security, design, testing, and code quality). Occasional travel required within the United States. Option to work remotely but required travel to local office once per quarter if lives within 180 miles of office.
