Our location in Des Plaines, Illinois currently has an opportunity for a Global Service & Support Engineer .

The Global Service & Support Engineer has primary responsibilities, which include support of internal instrument systems used for the design and development of Abbott Molecular products, designing, conducting, and leading projects enhancing product usability and serviceability, and providing technical support for Abbott Molecular products. The role requires the need to provide direct and onsite technical support for field engineers, through leading field service escalations and collaborating with external vendors and internal Product Support teams to obtain successful resolutions. Technical training courses are expected to be prepared and delivered to a variety of participants, which will comprise mainly field service engineers, but also other internal teams and some customer training will be required. The creation of service documentation comprises a core responsibility ranging from small procedural documentation modifications to large sections of service manuals and comparable records. Multiple service and support-related project involvement are required, several of which need to be led, many of which comprise cross-functional teams.

What You’ll Work On

+ Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.

+ Provides worldwide technical product support.

+ Creates and conducts technical training.

+ Creates technical documentation.

+ Provides worldwide phone and on-site support.

+ Participates in projects involving support and service of assigned products.

+ Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.

+ Performs assignments of a wide degree of difficulty.

+ Conducts technical training for assigned products.

+ Provides input to the product teams regarding the development of new designs, methods, or processes.

+ Recommends changes to existing programs.

+ Creates, updates, and maintains technical documentation.

+ Performs CR approval and technical sign-off for service and support of assigned projects.

+ Provides problem resolution for worldwide technical product support.

+ Develops and/or provides input into Field Service tools for use in the field to service Abbott Molecular instrumentation.

Required Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Allied Health, or related field.

+ 0-4 years of work experience in clinical laboratory, biomedical engineering, diagnostic medical equipment servicing, or related service or laboratory field.

+ Must be willing to travel up to 50% domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

+ A passion for electromechanical and/or biological products or processes.

+ Possesses above-average knowledge of MS Office products.

The base pay for this position is $64,000.00 – $128,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
