Description
The Lead RegRadiologic Techreflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Under the general supervision of the Diagnostic Supervisor, oversees evening shift operations of Radiology. Perform all duties and responsibilities as a radiologic technologist I in a manner that is appropriate for the individual and consistent with Palos Community Hospital's mission and initiatives.
Oversee daily activities of Diagnostic Radiology including managing the work-flow for out-patients, in-patients, and emergency patients during shift.
Function as radiology department liaison with other areas of the hospital.
Assess staff productivity and initiate low census flexing as appropriate.
Review and approve staff images for appropriate positioning and technique as needed. Alerts technologist directly when work is inaccurate or outside of department standards.
Keeps staff informed of changes in processes and protocols and communicates with Radiology Manager and Radiology supervisor to resolve quality issues.
Monitor staff compliance with department and hospital policies and procedures.
Perform various radiographic procedures that produce optimal images according to department policies and operate radiographic equipment according to established guidelines, including fixed and mobile units.
Utilize appropriate radiation safety methods for patients, visitors, and all staff. Includes but is not limited to collimation, shielding and technical settings of equipment.
Meet the individual physical and mental needs of patients during procedures including comfort, privacy, confidentiality, and timely communication.
Provide explanation of procedure, discharge information and expectations for completion of the procedure and receiving results.
Review procedure requisitions for appropriateness. Documents pertinent patient information according to department policies.
Maintain skills and knowledge to provide care appropriate to the age or ability of each patient.
Review each examination for technical accuracy and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure. (SBAR).
Identify anatomical orientation on all required images and ensures proper identification on all images.
Use computer system to document correctly and accurately patient information to ensure the quality of patient care.
Demonstrate the ability to perform all necessary computer operations to ensure examination documentation and charges.
Maintain work area and equipment in acceptable working order and cleanliness.
Assist student technologists during assignment to clinical rotation.
Follow infection control procedures at all times.
Maintain confidentiality of all hospital-related information.
