RATIO is seeking a talented and passionate design-focused Architect to join our International Design Studio in Chicago, Illinois.
RATIO is committed to employing creative, self-motivated design professionals who can utilize current technologies to achieve design excellence. You will join a dynamic and rapidly growing collaborative practice to work on projects throughout the United States and abroad. While the position is based in Chicago, you will work on projects being managed from all our current studios (including Denver, Indianapolis, Raleigh, Milwaukee, and Champaign). This position will entail involvement in all phases of the design process, from marketing submittals and participation in the pursuit of projects through SD, DD, CD and CA.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with clients and project stakeholders to understand their needs and goals.
Generate and develop design concepts that align with the project requirements.
Create sketches, diagrams, and renderings to communicate design ideas.
Research and recommend appropriate materials for construction based on aesthetic, functional, and budgetary considerations.
Communicate with clients to present design concepts, gather feedback, and make necessary revisions.
Work closely with architects, engineers, interior designers, and other professionals to ensure a coordinated and cohesive design.
Work closely with the leader of our international practice within the Studio.
Attend meetings and participate in collaborative decision-making processes.
Qualifications
A professional degree in Architecture.
A minimum of 5 years of architectural experience.
Demonstrate a portfolio that has a very strong design aptitude.
Has the ability to lead and manage design projects.
Established experience in all phases of project delivery.
The ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.
Demonstrate advanced skill in Sketchup, Rhino, CAD, Revit, Excel, Newforma and skype conferencing and go to meetings with speed and a high degree of accuracy.
Demonstrate Rendering Capabilities.
Demonstrate and apply the following construction knowledge:
Understand the business side of design from both a RATIO perspective and the Client perspective and deliver accordingly.
Experience in developing sophisticated exterior building skins preferred but not mandatory.
