Description:
Baxter offers a robust summer internship program based in the Chicagoland area that provides meaningful work assignments and projects that immerse students in Baxter's culture designed to provide practical work experience highlighting what an individual would do in a similar full-time role with the ability to make a business impact. You'll be paired with a mentor, receive support from your manager, and have access to the entire Baxter employee community to ensure your success.

This summer internship is within the Round Lake Drug Delivery Engineering team within the Baxter Pharmaceuticals business sector. This team works to produce an expanding product catalog, identify equipment failures through lean processes, and contribute to a reliable CMMS in order to bring value to our customers. Project scope can be very broad, but will center around equipment failure analysis, analytical characterization, and/or creation and execution of designs of experiment (DoE)in support of root cause problem solving initiatives. Interns will be assigned to specific tasks in support of manufacturing product activities or process improvement efforts of existing products. Responsibilities typically involve a combination of literature research, laboratory work, and data analysis. The intern will be responsible for their individual project but will work in collaboration with Baxter team members internal and external to the Engineering function.

The intern will work with the assigned mentor and manager throughout the summer, culminating in a written project summary and final presentation at the end of the internship.

Responsibilities:
Conduct technology evaluations and investigate the feasibility of potential opportunities for the Baxter Pharmaceuticals business.
Work under the direction and with the guidance of Baxter engineers and scientists.
Perform literature research and laboratory testing.
Communicate ideas and findings to the Round Lake Drug Delivery Engineering Management organization.

Requirements:
Baxter is targeting students with proven academic performance and leadership potential. Ideal candidates will combine technical and business knowledge with analytical strength and creative problem-solving abilities.
Rising Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Controls Engineering.
GPA of 3.0 or above
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated leadership qualities and problem-solving skills
Positive attitude, team-oriented, adaptive to change, and collaborative
Actively involved in campus or community activities and organizations, preferably in leadership roles

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a salary pay rate of $26.00 an hour. The pay rate is based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
