Job Overview

We have a new opportunity to join our Employee Benefits team as a Benefits Assistant. This role is based out our headquarters office in Chicago, IL (near O'Hare). Infrequent travel to Milwaukee for meetings with broader HR and Benefits team members may be required.

The Benefits Assistant performs administrative work supporting the health and wellness function of Employee Benefits. Key areas of support includethe administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, and 401(k) plan. The individual in this role must be comfortable working with employees in their immediate department, the broader Human Resources team, and employees of all levels across the Komatsu organization.

Key Job Responsibilities


Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the Alight benefits system to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information

Assists with the open enrollment process.

Distributeall benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility.

Administer various employee benefits programs, such as group health, flexible spending accounts, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, 401(k), and wellness benefits.

Assists with new-hire orientations

Conduct benefits orientations and explain benefits self-enrollment system.

Runs report in system to ensure timely enrollment for new hires.

Performquality checks of benefits-related data.

Assistemployees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes.

Assistemployees with carriers and process life status changes.

Coordinateworkers' compensation claims with third-party administrator. Ensures timely follow up on claims when required.

Respondto benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.

Workwith Retirement team to responds to 401(k) inquiries from employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts.

Assistwith internal and external mailings for employees, retirees, etc. for Milwaukee (South Harbor) and Chicago locations

Assist with meeting scheduling for Benefits Department

Qualifications/Requirements


Associate degree in HR or related field, but experience and/or other training/certification may be substituted for the education

Knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.

Strong customer service mindsetandappropriate handling of confidential material.Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

Two years' experience in HR and/or benefits administration (Preferred)

Proficient knowledge/experience in use of Excel (VLOOKUP's, Pivot tables), Word, PowerPoint, DocuSign and data entry

Detailed, results-oriented;Must be able to work independently and possess ability to multi-task
