This position is responsible for technical leadership of the Next Gen 140 size class through 160 size class Motor Graders to Production and GW7. This challenging program targets the Low-Cost Producer (LCP) market segment world-wide. Scope of this high new content program includes new powertrain options, range of emissions levels, Next Gen operator station, choice of controls (levers and joysticks), tandem and AWD options, lower Total Cost of Ownership, Serviceability improvements, and other critical aspects of machine performance.

The Motor Grader Machine Integration Technical Lead (internally known as Senior Engineering Project Team Leader) is accountable for the entire machine, which includes robust integration of all machine systems for superior machine performance, meeting end product quality objectives, defining and achieving machine variable cost objectives, and delivering against overall product development project schedules. The holder of this position is responsible for ensuring the machine technical specifications are in alignment with customer and business requirements. They lead and participate on teams throughout the enterprise, as needed, to make certain the machine is developed and manufactured to meet customer requirements.

The Tech Lead will have outstanding technical skill and engineering judgment, demonstrated by delivering results in technically challenging assignments in design, machine development or research, or component development. This leader must have excellent technical communication skills and demonstrated team leader capability. They must display a strong passion for building a constructive culture within Caterpillar, developing superior products, and continually improving design and development capability.

+ Empower, mentor, and lead a team of engineers, fostering their growth and providing expert technical guidance in a non-supervisory leadership role.

+ Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams ensuring smooth and effective project execution.

+ Clearly communicate project objectives and tasks, while actively soliciting insights and feedback from team members to drive success.

+ Skillfully interpret and convey customer, management, and team input, both verbal and non-verbal, to inform project decisions.

+ Represent the team as a confident spokesperson in high-level meetings with various levels of management, articulating project progress and requirements.

+ Play a key role in shaping the multi-generational product strategy, aligning program scope with long-term goals for sustained success.

+ Offer invaluable technical expertise across diverse projects, contributing to their overall excellence and innovation.

+ Spearhead and coordinate essential processes within the design team, including thorough design reviews, resolution of factory and product reliability issues, and proactive cost management and reduction efforts.

What You Have (Basic Qualifications):

+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Engineering curriculum.

+ Extensive industry experience in construction or manufacturing, providing a deep understanding of industry dynamics and challenges for effectively delivering superior Products and Services .

+ Excellent written and oral communication skills, facilitating effective stakeholder engagement and team collaboration, crucial for Influencing Through Expertise.

+ Strong team management skills, evidenced by successful leadership of global teams, a critical requirement for effective Team Management in this position.

+ Technical Excellence: Candidate must have strong analytical skills and have the ability to use various design software. Incumbent will develop and provide solutions for significant technical issues related to quality, velocity, and cost objectives.

Top Candidates Will Have :

+ An accredited Master of Science degree in engineering.

+ Extensive experience in engineering, manufacturing, or machine test.

+ Successful completion of 6 Sigma DMAIC and DMEDI Black Belt training.

+ 6 Sigma Black Belt certification.

+ Concurrent Product and Process Design & New Product Introduction experience.

+ Project Management training and experience developing schedules.

+ Experience with Motor Grader product development in a system design or test team.

Additional Info :

+ 10-15% domestic and international travel is expected.

+ Domestic relocation is available to those who qualify.

+ ISE assignments are not available.
