Job Description

Eastern Illinois University is seeking an Assistant Director in the Office of Civil Rights & Diversity.

The Assistant Director supports the Director/Title IX Coordinator in the administrative operations of the office.

The Office of Civil Rights and Diversity oversees all aspects of affirmative action, nondiscrimination, and equal opportunity for Eastern Illinois University; develops policies and procedures on these matters; advises members of the university about matters of compliance with federal and state requirements; implements actions that support compliance;  investigates all internal complaints of discrimination; delivers civil rights and diversity training; prepares mandatory reports and responds to investigations and inquiries. The office carries out centralized recruitment of applicants for faculty and professional staff positions and monitors the search processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide recommendations and assistance regarding the content of internal and external reports as well as other Civil Rights and Diversity research projects;
  • Help to oversee university compliance with policies and procedures;
  • Assists with the university employment process;
  • Investigate employee and student civil rights complaints;
  • Assists with the planning, administration, and oversight of the functions and activities related to Title IX operations;
  • Contribute to the design, delivery, and promotion of training programs and curricular;
  • Manage the assignment and completion of mandatory training programs administered by the Office of Civil Rights & Diversity;
  • Assist with ensuring compliance with federal and state reporting requirements;
  • Assist with the execution of office initiatives;
  • Conduct educational programs, trainings and workshops;
  • Serve as the Ethics Officer designee to assist with the administration and oversight of functions related to the Ethics Office;
  • Serve on university committees;
  • Assist in the supervision of office staff;
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the Director of Civil Rights & Diversity.
