The Clinical Nurse I position is an entry level professional nursing position. Under close supervision, this individual utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation toprovidesafe,therapeuticcare.Thispositionalsofunctionsasamemberoftheinterdisciplinaryand nursing teams; provides input to policies and standards of care; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required. Must be adept in performing all of the functions associated with the clinical unit, i.e. relief of telemetry monitor technicians, equipment and clinical care. Continues to establish and expand personal clinical base of nursing knowledge and skills. Multiple vacancies

Assessment
Performsanddocumentsaphysical/psycho-socialassessmentonassignedpatientsthat accurately portrays patient problems and/or complications.
Assessesanddocumentsneedsforpatientandfamily education.
Basesnursingdiagnosisonavailableassessmentdata.
Caneffectivelyobserveanddocumentthepatient'semotionalresponse.
Plan
Developsanursingplanofcarebasedonmedicalandnursingdiagnosis,admissionprofile and the individual needs of the patient.
Collaborateswithpeers,supervisorsandotherhealthteammembersindevelopingtheplanof care and establishing priorities, and in assuring continuity of care.
Evaluatesthepatients'responsetonursinginterventionsandaltersplanofcareasneeded.
Developsandimplementsongoingdischargeplansforpatientsincollaborationwithother health care providers/team members.
ImplementationofPlan
Implementsawrittenplanofnursingcare,individualizedtotheneedsofeachpatientwithin predetermined time after admission.
Demonstratesknowledgeofandrationaleforthesafeuseofequipment.
Assistsinmaintainingacleanandsafe environmentinallareasoftheassigned unit.
Consistentlyusesaseptictechniquesduringproceduresandtreatments.
AdministersmedicationsandtherapeuticmeasuresasprescribedbyPhysiciansinaccordance with safe medical practice and established policies/ procedures.
Identifies,manages,anddocumentschangesinthepatient'sstatus,andcommunicatesthese findings to the appropriate health care personnel.
EvaluationofPlan
Evaluatestheeffectivenessofnursinginterventionsinaccomplishinggoalsandintended patient care outcomes.
Modifiestheplanofcare,asneeded,withchangesinthepatient's condition.
AgeRelatedSpecific
Recognizes the needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated (i.e. understandschildgrowthanddevelopment,normalpatternsofadolescentbehaviorandsigns of normal aging. Integrates this knowledge and skills into age appropriate responses to psychosocial and physical needs of each patient.
Maintainssufficientskillstocompleteabiophysicalandpsycho-socialevaluationbasedonage of patient.
Geriatrics:Insuresnursingcareadjustsforageassociatedillnessesand conditions: e.g. vision, mobility, and hearing.
Pediatrics:Insuresnursingcareadjustsfordeviationsfrom normalgrowthand developmental stages.
Adolescents:Insurestheuniquebehaviorandemotionalneedforinvolvementby Adolescents is integrated into the nursing care planning.
