Position Summary 
 The Dean of Student Life supports the Vice President for Mission Integration and direct reports in the overall management of student affairs within the division and promotes all campus-based programs that contribute to an environment that fosters social, educational, and personal growth for all students. Also, the Dean serves as the Chief Conduct Officer. The Dean of Student Life is responsible for the oversight and supervision of the Counseling & Wellness Center, Residence Education, Retention Initiatives and Student Life which includes, Student Government Association, Student Activities Board, Greek Life, Orientation, Academic Initiatives, and Leadership Programming.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities 
 Uphold and fulfill the mission, vision, values, and traditions of the University of St. Francis;
Provide leadership and management of all aspects of Counseling & Wellness, Retention Specialist, Residence Education, and Student Life (which includes Student Activities Board, Greek Life, Orientation, Academic Initiatives, and Leadership Programming) including hiring and ongoing evaluation of employees;
Oversee grants directly related to student success such as SAMHSA grant, Title V grant and EHSI Grant.
Oversee institution wide retention and co-curricular assessment:Create, communicate and follow-up on retention processes, expectations, and deadlines;
Oversee development co-curricular assessments and institutional use of Suitable;
Provide support and feedback to all division personnel in the area of continuous quality improvement;
Serve on University Assessment Committee and Liaison with ASC assessment initiatives;


Function as the Chief Conduct Officer administering and overseeing the Student Conduct Process;Respond directly in cases of a student crises.
Provide training for Behavior Intervention Team and assemble weekly meetings to engage in student case management and threat assessments as needed.
Oversee all student conduct cases including training conduct hearing officers and adjudicate cases in conjunction with the student code of conduct in partnership with Human Resources and Title IX
Maintain, Administer the University's Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct including a yearly revision of policies and procedures;

Advise Student Government AssociationDirectly oversee SGA Club Budgets ensuring all institutions rules are followed
Plan training for SGA Advisors across campus
Manage SGA executive board including engaging in trainings and meetings
Coordinate with City of Joliet and community for large scale events

Establish and maintain an effective reporting structure with direct reports and to the VP of Mission Integration
Lead the university's Behavior Intervention Team and work with students and parents to develop appropriate plans for students who have exhibited concerning behavior;
Work with Dining Services to ensure student satisfaction;
Oversee the execution of First Year, Transfer, and Online Student Orientation including partnering with the Enrollment Division to support onboarding of new students
Develop programs and activities that are aimed at establishing a link with all traditional undergraduate students in order to engage them in the life of the university community using relevant student development theories;
Ensure leadership and management of all aspects of Residence Education and Student Life;Maintain a 24-hour supervisory role for the residence halls and is available to arrive on campus within 30 minutes of notification of a residential emergency;
Establish a hierarchy of command when not available for staff supervision or in emergency situations;
Provide direct supervision to the Residence Education Director, Student Life Coordinator, Retention Specialist, Campus Nurse and Counseling;
Crisis management: work with Security, Health and Counseling Services, VP of Mission Integration, and local police when necessary;
Determine facility needs of the residence halls and develop a furniture rotation plan, submitting budgets for facility needs, and working with outside vendors to make purchases.
Collaborate with University Ministry in providing opportunities for spiritual growth for all students;
Collaborate with University Ministry and Director of Residence Education in establishing a relationship between the Resident Assistants, Commuter Assistants and the Peer Ministers;
