Number of Positions: 1 (Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)
This position is open to the public and all current City employees covered under the City’s collective bargaining agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) – BARGAINING UNIT 1, 3, 4 & 5. Only employees in City job titles in this bargaining unit are eligible to bid.

Under general supervision, performs clerical duties of a complex nature; and performs related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Oversees the filing, storage and maintenance of departmental files
- Coordinates and monitors the processing of various forms and documents including applications, requisitions, vouchers, and payroll requests
- Coordinates and prioritizes work flow; supervises the ordering, storage and distribution of supplies and equipment
- Reviews forms to ensure accuracy, completeness, authenticity and employee eligibility
- Reviews request for information from departmental records and processes requests in accordance with departmental regulations
- Trains and instructs employees in clerical operations and departmental rules, regulations and policies
- Supervises the maintenance of accounts of transactions for currency or checks received
- Prepares a variety of statistical, operating and performance reports
- Codes and prepares input and output data for computer-based systems
- Reviews daily postings to a variety of accounts, books ledgers and registers

Location: 210 West 69th Street
Days: Monday-Friday
Hours: 8:00am – 4pm or 8:30am-4:30pm
Salary: $ 48,960.00 /year
THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE
Qualifications:
Two years of progressively responsible clerical experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
SELECTION REQUIREMENTS
This position requires applicants to successfully pass a skills assessment test and complete an interview, which will include a written exercise. Test results will be sent out by the Department of Human Resources after test results have been compiled and analyzed. Applicants who receive a passing score on the test will be selected to interview. The interviewed candidate(s) receiving a passing score on the test and possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral interview and written exercise, will be selected for hire.
Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:
- Previous clerical experience
- Experience working in a fast pace administrative environment
- Customer service skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel/Word
