Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a READINESS SPECIALIST (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2024000 and is part of the IL MILPO, National Guard. Responsibilities As a READINESS SPECIALIST (TITLE 32), GS-0301-9, you will provide oversight, planning, interpretation, application of policy, final review and validation of subordinate products for presentation to senior leadership, and implementation guidance to lower echelon units and commands. Major Duties – This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Review, analyze and implement the Mobilization Planning Data Viewer (MPDV) and Deployment and Redeployment Tracking System (DARTS) and coordinates deficiencies and/or requirements with the unit chain of command. Conduct classes and provide guidance to soldier’s preparing unit reports. Track and maintain data for subordinate units. Analyze reports to determine impact shortages have on equipment, personnel, and training. Compiles and extracts data from reports for inclusion in command and staff briefings. Assist and coordinate soldier readiness processing activities for mobilization and demobilization. Perform general administrative support duties. Assume control of routine matters based on the nature of the action and knowledge of the command programs and functions, projects assignments, internal procedures and relationships and current work status, and refers other inquiries to appropriate personnel. Maintain the supervisor’s calendar and schedules appointment based on knowledge of supervisor’s interests and commitments. Review all incoming mail; determining which items should be brought to the attention of the supervisor and distributes other items to the appropriate staff member for action. Review all outgoing correspondence and mail for procedural and grammatical accuracy, enclosures, signatures, proper addresses and final destination. Maintain suspense records on all correspondence and action documents and ensure timelines are met. Requirements Conditions of Employment This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the Illinois National Guard and in the military grade listed in the announcement. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. IAW The Fair Chance Act, Agency employees may not request criminal history information at the point of initial application, upon receipt of an application, or prior to, during or after a job interview. If an Optional Form (OF) 306, Declaration of Employment is submitted prior to the point of a conditional offer, questions related to background information section may not be asked. Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. You will be expected to travel with this position. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. PCS expenses may be authorized. Qualifications AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence, The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG. The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees. The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible. The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership. The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens. Military Grades: Enlisted – Not to exceed Rank of E7 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have the ability to analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; plan and organize work; and communicate effectively orally and in writing. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the lower grade level in the Federal service in order to be considered for this position. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-9 Level MUST possess at least 1-year specialized experience at the GS-7 Level; experience providing technical guidance and assistance in the type of work of the position to be filled such as: track and maintain data; analyze reports; compile and extract data from reports; a thorough knowledge and understanding of administrative procedures and practices of management; experience developing administrative procedures. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Verbiage displayed on your resume or application must contain your own words.
