Job Summary
The Organizational Development (OD) Consultant partners with campus leaders to understand and build strategies to achieve desired outcomes. Serves as an expert, internal consultant and thought leader across the enterprise by assessing and diagnosing human capital needs for designing, enhancing, and implementing organizational effectiveness for teams, functions, and programs with a focus on large scale initiatives. Provides strategic consultation and implementation for initiatives such as organizational culture, employee engagement, team development, leadership development, strategic planning, and change management in partnership with IHR, ELOE, and campus partners. The OD Consultant will design, develop, facilitate, and implement programs that are linked to the university's goals to enhance effectiveness, productivity, and overall performance.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Serves as a change management strategist and advisor to leaders, including senior leaders, to drive culture change, evaluate existing organizational practices, provide guidance with sensitive situations, and identify areas of improvement using evidence-based practices and solutions.
  • Provides expert knowledge and needs analyses for organizational developmental interventions, including by not limited to climate and culture assessments, complex data analysis, metric-based strategic planning, and performance gap diagnosis.
  • Serves as a knowledgeable coaching resource for executives across campus to support leaders with appropriate tools, such as 360-degree evaluations, coaching assessments, and other developmental platforms.
  • Collaborates with senior leaders and HR team members to identify needs and offer support in areas such as campus planning, interpersonal group dynamics, communication, conflict management, problem solving, strategic planning, team cohesion and culture.
  • Provides guidance to academic units navigating change related to stakeholder engagement, transition planning, restructuring or redesign, and building change management capabilities (e.g., project teams, leaders).
  • Partners in the design and facilitation of campus planning meetings, such as retreats, new leader acclimation, leadership agendas, and change management initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in organizational development, industrial/organizational psychology, business administration, human resources, or a related field and a minimum of two years of experience in organizational development or a related field. OR Bachelor's degree in organizational development, business administration, human resources, or a related field and a minimum of five years of experience in organizational development or a related field. Required: Certification in a related area.

Preferred Qualifications

Has vendor certification in assessment tools such as Birkman, Crucial Conversations, Change Management, 360-assessment program, or EQ. Is an Associate, Professional, or Master Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation.

  • Expert knowledge of organizational development principles and practices.
  • Strong experience designing and delivering organizational development interventions.
  • Extensive knowledge of coaching concepts and methods to guide individuals and teams in learning and improving effectiveness.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to influence others.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a constructive and respectful manner with diverse teams and clients.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and follow-up on customer requests.
Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 3/16/2024. Starting salary is $90,000, and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for sponsorship. Hybrid work options are available.
