Position Title: Kitchen Manager

Report To: Corps Community & Grants Director
Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or GED or, experience in related field.

Experience: Minimum of two years in food preparation and safety, food service or other related experience. Individual must possess or have the ability to obtain food service sanitation certificate. Some experience in feeding large groups is preferred.

Skills: Individual must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Possess sound judgment and excellent decision-making skills. Individual must have the ability to work independently with little supervision or in a team environment. Possess a positive attitude in working with high-risk clients, coordinating volunteers and interacting with donors. Individual must be dependable, honest and trustworthy. Individual must be willing to become familiar with and support the mission of The Salvation Army and must be able to pass background check.

Responsibilities:
Prepare and serve a well-balanced meal for 50 -100 individuals
Prepare and serve breakfast meals, Monday through Friday
Prepare weekend breakfast meals as needed ahead of time
Prepare a light lunch meal Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
Prepare dinner when there is not a volunteer group scheduled or a cancelation
Ensure the kitchen is stocked adequately with cleaning supplies, paper products necessary for serving meals and ingredients necessary to prepare meals
Pick up food donations and supplies
Coordinate and offer assistance to volunteers/court service workers as they help prepare/serve meals
Schedule community/church groups to prepare and serve the evening meal
Maintain an accurate count of meals served
Receive and document donations and gifts received
Maintain volunteer log and paperwork associated with volunteers
Enforce program guidelines and Safe Harbor Policies and Procedures
Attend staff meetings as scheduled
Maintain compliance with McLean County Health Department standards
Ensure that meals are being prepared in accordance with McLean County Health Department and Food Sanitation standards
Prepare for and attend Mclean County Health Department sanitation inspections.
Maintain clean and sanitary conditions in the kitchen/pantry areas
Maintain preventative maintenance schedule on equipment.
With the approval of the supervisor, arrange maintenance/repairs on equipment
Other duties as assigned by the Social Service Director or Corps Officer

Position Ranking:
Regular, Full Time, Non Exempt
Physical Demands/ Work Environment:
This Position is required to do light to moderate physical work. In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the individual is regularly required to remain stationary for some periods of time, use hands and fingers, communicate, move, occasionally required to position self to stoop, kneel or crouch, frequently required to reach with and use arms and hands as required in using standard office equipment and a PC. Specific vision abilities by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to focus. The work environment for this position includes an office environment with a low noise level.
