Northern Trust is looking for an Application Sysadmin to join its Corporate Services App Sysadmin team

Job Description AND Principal Responsibilities

  • This role will have matrix alignment to the Global Technology Organization.
  • Experience in supporting Analytics, data warehousing, profitability, Risk/Compliance applications in financial and banking domain.
  • Thorough understanding of key business processes and ability to communicate and translate those needs to technical solutions
  • Research and solve the data related issues within the environment.
  • Work closely with business partners, technical resources and management (Application Managers, Business Analysts, System Analysts and Development teams)
  • Evaluate the risks and solutions before taking action, so that action plans are timely, realistic and positive
  • Document system process flows and write test scripts for system testing.
  • Create automation for repetitive tasks using various tools.



Experience/ Skills

Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or


equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in IT industry in the technical field
  • Working knowledge of writing SQL queries and troubleshoot data related issues.
  • Flexible in managing competing priorities and objectives.


Ability to work independently as needed

Desired types of skillsets

  • Familiarity with Linux Red Hat Administration, troubleshooting and performance tuning
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Server Administration, troubleshooting and performance tuning
  • Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes containerization concepts
  • Familiarity with Oracle Database administration (Exadata knowledge helpful)
  • Familiarity with Azure Cloud computing
  • Scripting knowledge in one or more of the following: Terraform, Shell, SQL, batch, PowerShell, creation and troubleshooting
  • Understand SQL queries, analyze data related issues and identify root cause of issues / defects. Develop and implement performance tuning.
  • Perform Network tracing
  • Experience working with enterprise monitoring tools like OEM, Catchpoint, Dynatrace
