Software Asset Management (SAM) is responsible for managing the software assets and license positions of Northern Trust that support business strategic goals.

The Software Asset Management Lead participates in the lifecycle of software entitlements management including active license tracking, financial baseline and forecasting of software products across multiple software publishers of various size and investment. The role will utilize a combination of products and tools including the initial software entitlements for a portfolio of vendors utilizing Flexera for entitlements mapping/utilization as well as engaging with a managed service partner.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

Engage with Entitlements Analysts to understand stakeholder software demand.

Understand existing entitlements and cost for portfolio of products across multiple software publishers

Determine growth or decline projections based on engagement with software product owners/stakeholders

Track and report on current and future volumes/obligations for designated portfolio of software products

Establish regular cadence (monthly/quarterly) to provide reporting to management and stakeholders

Engage with Entitlements Analysts to develop/improve the processes for software lifecycle and demand management

Participate in the creation and continuous improvement of systematic controls for software demand management

Ensure business adapters are operational and monitor data integrity and quality

Develops metrics and create ad-hoc reporting as needed

Other duties include:

Planning work in conjunction with IT and business priorities

Engaging with C-level executives for position reporting, issue resolution, status and strategy

Liaising with partners and peers throughout the organization

Ensures issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner
Rapidly and effectively adapts to highly dynamic and fast-paced work environment
Participates in special projects as needed and perform other duties as assigned
Fosters a positive and collaborative environment

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience with the following:

3+ years of IT Asset Management (ITAM) experience, including Software Asset Management (SAM)

Prior experience using Flexera suite of ITAM tools

Technology Business Analysis

Financial acumen to determine and represent adequate forecasting and accruals for software entitlements

Excellent communication skills, verbal, written and presentational

Work with end users in a time sensitive environment

Self-starter, and be able to think ahead of entitlements related nuances

Highly flexible and adaptable to change

Strong team/relationship building skills

Software demand and lifecycle management for commercial software products
